I am on the track of Robert Carr Allinson who was a captain in the Army Veterinary Corps in WW1, when he was mentioned in dispatches and won a Military Cross.
His name is on the Roll of Honour in the Town Hall, but not in the War Graves Commission Register, so I am trying to learn more about him.
Was he in practice in Liverpool in or pre-1914 ( he joined up in September that year). Did he return to Liverpool, and die in the years after war, too late to be recorded by CWGC?
All clues welcome.

Hi Daggers

Checked 1911 and 1914, but no sign of him.
Looked at all variations of his name ie double barrelled surname and also under vets, without success.
He must have been elsewhere before WW1

Sorry :(

Cheers

Hi Daggers,

There are two Robert Carr Allinsons 1911, both born North Yorkshire.

One was born Bedale, the other Richmond..

Luckily I chose the right one.

Robert Carr Allinson Richmond Dec 1883 9d 676

Robert Carr Allinson aged 27 born Richmond North Yorkshire occ: vetinary surgeon.

He appears to be staying with another John Allinson aged 32 occ: Hotel Proprietor, this chap is aged 32 so not his father.

Address is Finkle street Richmond North Yorkshire.

Hope this helps.

Correction Daggers it is his father he is staying with he is aged 60.. not 32
apologies!! I was looking at his years married not his age

Thanks for those pieces of info. I have since discovered that he qualified at Liverpool Univ, and so may be on the Town Hall Roll for that reason.
