Hello recently finding my Grandfather James Waltons wareabouts early from 1891 I would like to know exactly what church he was Christened in, I had good information from a nice lady on here who found out he was living at Stour St Kirkdale aged 1 yr. His parents were Richard and Emily Walton. any help will be much appreciated.

James doesn't seem to be on the RC LHP database so he was probably christened at St Mary C of E Kirkdale.

If you know which church he married in that might help confirm his religion.

Richard Walton & Emily Turner were married at Christ Church C of E, Tintwistle in 1888. The district was Ashton Under Lyne, the county was Cheshire. It's now in Derbyshire. In 1891 it says Richard was born in Derbyshire in about 1859 and Emily was born in Yorkshire in about 1855. The parish in 1891 was St Athanasius so if it was local the christening might have taken place at St Athanasius C of E or St Mary's C of E.

Hi Col
They're not that young in census, was Emily married before?
Just being nosey...nothing to do with the point in question.

Pretty good working out Col, Stour Street was nearest to St Mary's.
Ghome - these records are held at the Liverpool Record Office.

Hi Tina
Cheshire BMD have an alternate name of Emily Cook for the marriage in 1888 so Emily may have been married before.
