This is really just for information as there have been a number of posts on this topic.
Last night I received from another descendant of hers the following receipt as an attachment to an e-mail.
--------------
West Derby Cemetery.
Received of ????? ?? of Liverpool the sum of 000 pounds Eleven shillings six pence for Interment of Catherine Davies of Walton Hospital in Section 8 No. 1025 Dated this 17th day of Jan. 1895
J Howard? Hunter? Registrar
The Funeral to be at the Cemetery upon Thursday at three o'clock pm
------------------
On the left hand side of this receipt is entered the following:-
Interment 9/-
Minister 2/6
---------------
Just thought, given the earlier comments re. public and private graves, that this might be of interest. I've had a look at the West Derby site and cannot see a Section 8. Given the fact that she was in the workhouse from 1891 I very much doubt she has a headstone but her daughter obviously thought she could at least be on her own!
