I'm not sure what it is you want. Please could you clarify.
You heading is Stalybridge 1892 but then you give a name James Walton and a date of birth of 1862.
I'm confused!

From post on the St Helens board, he was born
12th August 1892
Records for Stalybridge appear to be kept at Ashton under Lyne
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Stalybridge/
http://www.tameside.gov.uk/leisure/new/lh23.htm
It may well be that you live closer to there than many of us in Merseyside and so easier to do a look up.

Hi I am after confirmation that James Walton born 12th August 1892 did exist and did come from Stalybridge, and If the Mother and Father was named on the Birth Certificate.

The only way to know this is from the birth certificate itself.
Please check the
Ashton Under Lyne Registration District to see the district that covers Stalybridge, before 1894 the registration would have been in either Stayley; Dukinfield; or Ashton under Lyne (LAN).
There is a possible James Alfred Walton Q3 1892 Altrincham, Cheshire 8a 193 and also a James Walton registered Q4 1892 Chester 8a 397.
These would depend on whether he was registered out of the immediate area of Stalybridge, possible if the mother went home to her mother for the birth.
You could order these online at
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ perhaps with the proviso that the birth was on the correct date.
You do seem to have a lot more information than you are giving us, how do you know his exact date of birth?
In circumstances like these I would suggest that you contact the local Register Office for Stalybridge, maybe Dukinfield or Ashton Under Lyne and ask them to check for a birth on that specific date.
You could also check for baptisms, the parish registers for the local churches have been deposited at
Cheshire Record Office
I would also suggest that you check this post
http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... php?t=6937 where we have tried to put together some guidelines.

There is no James Walton listed on the GRO index for the September quarter (which would cover a 12 August birthdate) for Ashton under Lyne which was the registration district for Stalybridge.
Where do you have the information of a date of birth and a place from?
I also tried a quick search for a James Walton born Stalybridge 1892 for a census entry but didn't find one.

James Walton

Cheshire... just two in 1892:
Births Sep 1892: Walton, James Alfred - Altrincham - 8a - 193.
Births Dec 1892: Walton, James - Chester - 8a - 397.
Where did that precise date of birth, 12th August 1892, actually come from? It can't have been the birth cert because that would give you the place of birth and parents' names.

Tina you being confused, you want to see the wrong info I have been given over the last 12 months regarding this James Walton must be laughing his head off up there. I have all the family Bloodlines up to 1440s but the last known old relative has thrown a spanner in the works and said he was born in Staleybridge in 1892 not my 1887.

Staleybridge?

Hi,
I asked the question: Where did that precise date of birth, 12th August 1892, actually come from? Unfortunately you don't appear to have answered it yet.
If it was by word of mouth it cannot be relied upon. Those 'hand-me-down' dates are notorious for being incorrect. And as for Stalybridge.. there can be many miles of a difference between where someone was actually born and where the birth was registered, especially in rural areas.
Then one must take into account a person's 'preference' as to where they were born, again especially in rural areas. I have 3 people who changed their Cheshire place of birth in every census from 1861 to 1901. From hamlet to church parish to civil parish to village and back again... Not one of the places matches their place of birth registration!

Hi Dickiesam The date of August 12th 1892 was given to me by my auntie who lived with my Grandad around 1940s but she has through me off track with this date as i have always had him born 1887 then the first few years living in St Helens then around 14 moving back to liverpool where the walton originated and still are but The 1892 does not show him being born in the Stalybridge area. Thanks again fro everones help.
