It's very unlikely that you will find anything as recent on the internet, you would need more modern newspapers for that. If you check this post you will find which ones and the dates that are held in the various libraries.

Hi Julie
Do you know how old the little girl was at the time of her death 9yrs??
It would have been recorded under Prescot rego I think.

Hi Julie
You could contact the St Helens Star newspaper and enquire about their archives.
They appear to publish a lot of Rainhill news.
Good luck

Hi Julie
This is a message for Mary.
I think I've found a death for Deborah aged 14.
Could it have come under Knowsley rego area in 1979?
Won't list anymore info out of respect for her family.

Tks Mary

Yes Tina the area covered by Prescot district ended in 1974 and became Knowsley. http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/dist ... escot.html

As the exact date of death has now been ascertained I believe Julie should research further, either by ordering the death certificate if she believes this would provide more information, alternatively the links have been given for the newspapers available for that date and a visit to St Helens library may produce more information.

The Prescot Reporter is available on microfilm at Huyton Reference Library
You could go and search the paper for that date to obtain details
