Montrose!

Hi All,

After a lay off researching the dreaded Montrose's I thought it was time 'I had another crack at it'

I have discovered I have a second cousin .... Montrose born 36 in Liverpool. She married at St David's Church Childwall. Somewhere along the line they divorced and she remarried. I don't know if either of them are still alive but if they were it's possible she may have information regarding the family.

I cannot find any information regarding her using the regular sites and wondered if anyone had any ideas on how to locate her?

regards,

Roy Montrose

Hello Roy,
Because this forum isn't the place to search for people who may be living I suggest you might get a result if you join the Liverpool Old Pals forum here:

Hi All,

Jan, thanks for the P.M. I must admit I've never used that facility before, but will do so in an effort to try and trace Rona. Thanks also to Mary and Dickiesam for your input, I'll let you know if I come up with anything,

regards,

Hello Roy,

You probably think I have disappeared in true Montrose style!! LOL.

On Friday, Julie and I spent the day at the Ancestry Exhibition. We had a session with an expert asking about the elusive Henry. He gave Julie some ideas so she has a new enthusiasm about finding him. I am sure she will be in touch if, by some miracle, she finds him!

I must talk to my brother's (William Carlton) widow as she is nine years older than I am and may have some more information as I know that my brother did start to do some family history.

I am lost in admiration at your tenacity.

I wish I could help with tracing Rona but can only think of an ad in the local paper. I remember her with great affection as she was SO beautiful and glamourous and very kind to the schoolgirl I was then.

Hi Lynn,

Lovely to hear from you again, :D I must admitt I thought you had done a Montrose disapearing act!

I've kept on looking for any clues I may have missed on the Montrose investigation but can't find any. As you are aware there are a few William Montrose's knocking around the same time as William Carlton Montrose (b. c1860) but I cannot find anymore information on any of them. Henry Montrose (William Carlton's Father) is a complete mystery.

With regards to Rona Lyn Hornby (nee Montrose) I have calculated that she must have died somewhere between 2005 and 2009 in Liverpool, her birth year was 1936. I also believe her second Husband Ian D. Hornby died during the same period (2005-2009).

I was rather hoping Rona or her Husband Ian may have been able to help me but unfortunately that's not possible now.

Rona was a superb ballroom dancer and won many national trophy's with Billy Martin's Formation team who appeared regularly on T.V.

Lynn, I will drop you a P.M and also write to your e.mail address,

Regards,

Roy

Hi Roy,

At the time, I didn't know about Rona's ballroom dancing prowess but I did ballroom and Latin American dancing for years getting a trough of certificates, medals, a shield, a couple of cups and a winning a few competitions. Thompson's Dancing School it was.

I never did formation though! Dancing is obviously a family trait! Ha, ha.

How about you Roy? I can't believe we didn't dance - unknowingly - at the Cavern . . . or the Locarno, Reeces, Mardi Gras, Tower Ballroom, somewhere in Bold Street?

Many more but the memory dims! Ah, those were the days!
