Hi
I posted this a while ago and havent been on the forum much lately, I was told you might be able to help;
My gt grandad Edward Mcloughlin worked on the Cunard lines - would it be possible for you to look up any of the ships he sailed on to check if I have the right info??? He was born 1887 and was with Cunard from 1911 as far as I know he sailed on the following in this order I think
1911 cARONIA
1914 MAURETANIA
1915 AQUITANIA
1916 CARPATHIA AND MAURETANIA AND AQUITANIA
1917 AQUITANIA
A tall order I know but any info is much appreciated I was given the info by another family member and I am not sure how accurate it is

You could look on the Ellis island website to see if on any trips he entered through New York. It's free site. You could also look on the immigration/emigration part of Ancestry which is free in your local library if you're in England and Wales.

Hello Hawker,
Really sorry, I cannot help. My subscription lapsed some time ago.
I was only able to look at ships records when Ancestry gave me two weeks free access to the World records.
Best of luck.

Gray

If you are in England you can look at Ancestry including shipping lists at your local library.

Hi
There are two entries in Ellis Island, Edward listed as trimmer (I think it was to do with coal but don't quote me)
17/5/1920 Coronia
17/10/1920 Vestris (Dep Buenos Aries)
both entries Edward married.
Well worth joining Ellis Island free site.

Do you have any idea which database Gray used? I see only passenger lists, not seamens lists.

Hi Mary,
Just seen your query.
It was Ancestry.
I had the standard sub; they gave me two weeks free trial of the Worldwide collection, this included crew lists as well as passenger lists. The lists even gave individuals weight/height/ even colour of eyes for some.
I was going to sign up BUT it was too expensive
Hope this helps

(Got a half price offer when it was advertised, trying to make the most of it while I can)
Unfortunately searching for Crew Lists gives only a dozen lists, mainly for places like California, Seattle, Oregon, Bremen etc. So I tried putting the names of the ships into the keyword option and the only one that came up was the Carpathia, linked to the Titanic. Unfortunately there is no McLoughlin listed.
Just a search for Edward McLoughlin doesn't bring anything up in the list that resembles a crew list of any kind. Sorry.

Hi
Thanks all for getting back to me. I have found him on New York passenger lists as a sick crew man returning to Liverpool/
Does the maritime museum hold crew lists?

I mentioned above a link where I had posted some information about where to find crew lists.
"The National Museums site
http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/mari ... links.aspx mentions that staff lists are held in the University of Liverpool Library
http://sca.lib.liv.ac.uk/collections/ "
