Hi
I am looking at a death certificate for a Samuel Smith, 20th Jan 1909 aged 30 who was declared dead at 63 Opie ? Apie Street ..pie Street ?in West Derby his mother name is Harriet Smith who lived at 38 Arkwright Street Liverpool
I am not certain whether this would be Everton, Toxeth park, or Kirkdale, as i do not come from this are

On 1911 census there is no 38 Arkwright Street, and neither can I find an Opie Street in Liverpool.

I cannot find these two persons together on any of the census 1881, 1891 or 1901

Can anyone help please i am not sure if this is my grandfather dad Samuel Smith who died young, and hence his children were sent on to Canada as Home Children.

Does anyone in Liverpool recognise the name of this street please

Thanks
Dawne

Hi Dawne

Both Opie St and Arkwright St are listed in the 1911 Directory

They are both between Gt Homer St and Netherfield Road N

Unfortunately neither number 63 Opie St or 38 Arkwright St are listed, so no sign of a Smith :(

Cheers
Erika :D

Hi and thanks so very much,
that was quick, I am impressed

That has helped me.
Can't find this mother and son on any other census before 1909, not on 1901,1891,1881

But least i have found the whereabouts of the street,
Brillant
Thanks

Hi All
I looked for Saml & Harriet at the addresses in 1894 Directory, no luck.
Using the surnames of people listed, I got into both streets in 1901 census Everton, Harriet not listed at 38 Arkwright & Samuel not at 63 Opie.

Hi

Just thinking this Harriet might be a step mother of Samuel.. so if we are looking for him pre 1901 he may have a different mother..its not an easy case being Smith

do you have any other info on him however small maybe a sister or brothers name..

Hi Col :)
2 threads running for same topic.
I've suggested in the other it be deleted.
However Dawne said she found Harriet & Samuel in 1911 census which I've asked her to post here.
Confused as I thought Saml died in 1909??

Hi
There is a 63 Opie Street in Everton 1911 census, however the Smith family are not living at that address.
