Hi to all our readers,

I have a Jessie Robertson born approx 1905 in Liverpool whose parents names were Robert and Lucy Robertson. In the FreeBMD list there are eight potential marriages listed for a Jessie Robertson up to 1935.
I am wondering whether any of you have a Jessie Robertson with the same parent names as above who may have married in that time.
Potential surnames are McCafferty, Warren, Murphy, Clifton, Butterfield, Strickland, Brown and McDonald.

Do any of these names feature in your trees anywhere?

Sounds to me as if this is a side line to your main tree, otherwise you would have known more about Jessie. I notice too that you aren't ruling out Manchester marriages.

If you were willing to pay for the certificate I would suggest that you contact the Liverpool Register Office, providing them with a list of the marriages - in Liverpool anyway - and the criteria of the father's name and occupation if you have it and her age.

When I did this they told me to send a cheque to cover the search of the first three marriages on the list, another for the second three, and so on. The first ones were incorrect and they returned the cheques, just keeping the one to cover the certificate for the correct marriage.

Thank you for your useful suggestion - I will wait and see if anyone comes up with any other information and then try the search certificate idea.

Hello Philrob,
When you start applying for marriage certs it would be a good idea to know Jessie's age at marriage. This is the only Liverpool birth between 1903 and 1907: Births Sep 1906 - Robertson, Jessie - West Derby - 8b - 261.

You now have her parents and her age which cuts down search errors considerably.
