1911 census look-up please

Hi All ~

I've recently learned that my grandmother - who I'd always assumed to be an only child - actually had a younger sister!

Unfortunately I don't have access to the 1911 census ... so I'm hoping that someone on the forum would be kind enough to do a look-up for me :)

The family name is Kelly.
The head-of-family was George Thomas Kelly: born abt 1875
My grandmother was Amy Frances Kelly: d.o.d 9 June 1898
Her sister was called Ethel and was born abt 1903

(The mother of the children, Amy Kelly (nee Anderton) had died aged 28 abt. 1905.)

I guess there may have been someone else in the household who would have helped George T Kelly to care for his young daughters.

The other issue I have is ... although my grandmother had a number of family photos, her sister doesn't appear on any of them. And she certainly doesn't appear in my parents wedding photos in 1947. Somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind I remember my grandmother having a relative in New Zealand ... so I'm wondering whether this could have been her sister, Ethel. As I only know Ethel's maiden name and year of birth, can anyone suggest how I can find out more about her, and whether she did in fact emigrate to NZ?

Bestest,
Paula.

Just a quick edit to say that the lady in my profile pic is my great-grandmother - Ethel Kelly's mother!

Access to the 1911 census is available to everybody on a Pay Per View basis http://www.1911census.co.uk/ and only a very few forum members may have a subscription.

I don't have a subscription but you can access limited information by searching for the person you know and then looking for other members of the household. I found the following all in West Derby:
Ann Kelly b 1848
Ethel Kelly b 1904
Florence Gertrude Kelly b1884
George Thomas Kelly b 1875
Rosina Kelly b 1882
Amy Frances Kelly b 1899.
Perhaps George moved in with his mother to have help with the children?
Hope this is of some use - you may know the other names.
Barbara

Many thanks Mary & Barbara ... the info you found is very useful indeed.

I wasn't aware of the situation re: the 1911 census ... I just assumed that it was included in Ancestry or Genes subscriptions ... sorry about that!

Thanks again!
Paula.

Hi Zed
In 1911 we have Rosina Kelly 29 who is the niece of Ann head of the family. Perhaps she is living with them to help widowed George out & his girls.
This could be her in 1891 Blundellsands, Waterloo, Gt Grosby
24 Worthing St
George P Kelly 40 postman/messenger, Sarah E 35, Sarah E jr 14, Geo P jr 11, Rosina 9, Charles 6 all bn Lpool, James E 2 bn Waterloo.
1901 they are still in Waterloo, Rosina as ROSAIRE.
