finding the owner of a house

Hi,
Would anyone know how to go about finding who owned a specific housein Liverpool, if I know the address?

I think it would depend on the date you were looking at, if in the mid 1800's then there would be the possibility that rent books might be held at the Liverpool Record Office. If you mean the 20th Century however, then maybe you could begin with the Land Registry I don't think it would be an easy task.
