Hi
If any one has time when next at the records office can you please look up the marriage of Lewis Levine, and Ellen Butler, for father's name and wittness. at St Thomas , it would be in the December Qrt of 1849.
I guess there may be more than one St Thomas if so the family home in 1851 was 29 Bridgewater street, Liverpool, if that helps to pin it down.
If any one can help I would really appreciate it.
Regards Sue

Hello Sue,
From the 1851 census Lewis' year of birth is 1825 and he was born in London. In the 1841 census there are no Levines with that birth year +/- 5 years. This is the list I found for Lev*:
LEVEY, Lewis 1826 15 M Liverpool Lancashire
LEVEY, Lewisa 1828 13 F Liverpool Lancashire
LEVI, Lewis 1826 15 M Birmingham Warwickshire
LEVI, Lewis 1830 11 M Birmingham Warwickshire
LEVI, Lewis 1828 13 M Whitechapel Middlesex
LEVI, Lewis 1827 14 M St George Hanover Square Middlesex
LEVI, Lewis 1830 11 M Manchester Lancashire
LEVI, Lewise 1830 11 M Liverpool Lancashire
The 2 x Lewisa is actually a poor transcription. Should be Louise. Correction submitted.

Hi,
Don't know if this is of any significance but on the 1851 census Ellen (nee Butler) is born in Manchester abt 1828. The 1841 has only 1 Ellen B (bn abt 1828) with a father John in Lancs and she's in Manchester. The father's occupation is 'Police constable' and he's from Ireland.

Here's the family in 1841:
BUTLER, John M 37 1804 - Police constable - Ireland
BUTLER, Mary F 30 1811 - Lancashire.
BUTLER, Ellen F 14 1827 - Lancashire
BUTLER, Mary F 7 1834 - Lancashire
BUTLER, Jane F 3 1838 - Lancashire
Address: #4 (?) William Street, Manchester.
(the number has been written over a couple of times and could be a 4. I checked the first house on the next page and it's 6 William Street. So I am guessing the 4 is right).
