Hi out there
Wondering if anyone can do any look ups for me for Christopher Bowles born in 1839 in Norfolk, Great Yarmouth before I sign up for more credits. I have the 1881 census which states he was a rigger living in Kirkdale, Lancs with his wife Annie and family. I am trying to find his family through the census can anyone help.

Hi Midgei,
Just wondering if you had any of the birth certs of Christophers children, to perhaps find Annie's maiden name, then maybe a marriage for Christopher and Annie,
I have looked at the 1881 details and saw that Annie was born Runcorn and the children were born Birkenhead, and the youngest born Liverpool 1880/1.
This could be Mary Ann's birth registration.
Name: Mary Ann Bowles
Year of Registration: 1876
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Birkenhead (1861-1998)
County: Cheshire, Merseyside
Volume: 8a

Hi,
Just wondering if this is his marriage? The only hit for a Christopher Bowles in all-counties search, Mar 1871 to Dec 1873, when his first child was born. And, he marries an Ann(ie).
Marriages Dec 1871:
Baylis, Ann - Prescott - 8b - 1079.
Bowles, Christopher Thomas - Prescott - 8b - 1079.
If he was a rigger by trade, he may have been a ship's rigger and been sea-going. His birthplace, Great Yarmouth, was a bustling sea port in years gone by and it's likely the sea was 'in his blood'. It would explain his absence from the 1861 and 1871.
Cheers,
Dickiesam

Oh before I finish off just to let you know that Christopher Bowles died in 1881 and Ann remarried in 1882 a William J Wilmot - at Edge Hill, St Judes in Liverpool - she didnt let the grass grow.
