Australian Advice Needed

I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction for researching a relative who I have just discovered sailed to Australia in 1924.
They sailed aboard the Berrima leaving London on the 22nd April bound for Melbourne, and via the Australian Cemeteries site, Frankston General Cemetery have found their deaths, along with the names of their children.
But where do I go from here?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Kebs

Hi Kebs,
What do you wish to know?
Start with some names of people and I will have a look at various sites available here in Australia for you.
If you can give me as much detail as possible, then I will see what I can do.

Hi Philrob
Any information would be very much appreciated
Ada Ysolinde Jane nee Mellor bn 1899/Walter Henry Barnes bn 1898 married Prestwich 1920 (have cert:) Sailed on the Berrima 24/4/1924 leaving London for Melbourne with one child Jane Edna aged 2yrs (have found birth and sent for cert: to confirm). Found via FMP.
Via
http://www.ozgenonline.com/aust_cemeter ... abdata.htm found Walter and Ada's deaths which also give the names of their children, Edna, Sam(dec), Rose, Betty, and Walter. Also, which was a bonus Ada's parents names are given, Thomas and Ada Annie Mellor (both dec), which for me confirmed I had the right family.
That's all I have, was over the moon when I found them, so anything at all Philrob would be great and appreciated.
Adios

Hi Kebs,
The
Victorian Registry of Births, Marriages and Deaths has an online search facility for finding information.
Paste in the following address and have a look what they have available.
Let me know how you go.

Susan thanks so much for the links, what interesting reading. Had a quick look at the Library link and think you need a card to search and have to be in Australia to get one, spent too much time reading the downloadable book. So will go back to the Library site.
Again, many thanks for help.

Hi Kebs,
Do you have the earlier information about the Barnes family? in 1911, Walter is living in Lichfield and there are four Ada Mellors listed born in 1899.

Hi Philrob
Ada I have, she was still living with her Aunt in Ruthin, where she had been since her mother had died in Liverpool in 1900.
Walter I had not found, so will now go back and have a look, Lichfield was the address given when they sailed for Australia.
Thanks for that - I missed that one

Hi Tina
Anything and everything would be appreciated, as I know nothing, apart from what I have listed, and the find that Susan found for me.
I have sent for the birth cert. for Edna - hopefully the right one.
The other children I believe were all born Australia.
At the moment I am putting off buying more credits for 1911 until they confirm
their sub to include 1911 which I can include when I renew my sub with FMP, so Walter at the moment will have to wait.
Many thanks Tina

Good work Cassie
In Anc# There is a Tertius Walter bn Lichfield 1871.
Marriage to Minnie Poppleton in 1898 Walsall (his father Walter) can't access this. (not in Staffs BMD)
Also a poss death aged 32yrs in Bham in 1903.
Kebs, you'll find him in 1881 & 1891.
His father Walter bn Warks is in 1901 wid with one unmarried daughter at home.
I can't find Tertius in 1901.
Added: That's because he's Thomas W Barnes
RG13/2656/143/7
I'm guessing Minnie would have remarried before 1911

Oh Cassie, thank you so much - I am now sitting reading both the death certs for Walter and Ada with a tear in the eyes and over the moon. I never thought I would get this far, as I started out on this journey knowing nothing. Ada was my fathers sister, and we knew nothing of his past at all, so to have reached this point, words cannot describe.
You know what's coming next, is it possible for me to trace any of the children? now I have the correct first names - marriages/deaths etc, although there is a chance that one or two may, just may be living.
Again Cassie, thank you so much for your help and time.
A very happy bunny, Kebs
