Looking for the maiden name of Charlotte b. 1843, who was married to a John W Harrison. They had the following children; John b. 1876, Beatrice b. 1879, Daisy b. 1881, and Florence b. 1883. They emigrated to Chicago, Illinois, USA, in 1889/1890. John W and his son John were Upholsterers and Daisy was a Stenographer. I presume that they were born in Lancashire. Any information would be thankfully received.

You will be able to find them in Liverpool on the 1881 census, which you can search for yourself on www.familysearch.org

In 1871 they were living at
22 Great George Street, St Thomas, Liverpool
J W Harrison Head M 33 Glass and China Dealer Lancashire Liverpool
Charlotte Wife M 31 London
Charlotte daur 3 Lancashire Liverpool
Bridget Brown Servant Unm 15 General Servant Domestic " "
RG10; Piece: 3777; Folio: 124; Page: 6

There is no obvious marriage in Liverpool for John and Charlotte, it may be that they married in London, her birthplace.

I think you will need young Charlotte's birth certificate to ascertain her mother's maiden name. There is an entry for
Charlotte Harrison Q3 1867 West Derby 8b 389.

You can order this online at www.gro.gov.uk at a cost of £7. To be on the safe side it would be best if you specified the criteria of the father's name in case it is the wrong one.

The 1881 census has Charlotte's place of birth as Middlesex.

I found this marriage in 1868 Oct-Dec Q Shoreditch London Middlesex

Charlotte Maria Blomfield others on page was a John Harrison.

Vol 1c page 221.

As suggested by Mary, I would get one of the children's birth certs to confirm Charlotte's maiden name.

Sorry Jan, I checked the London Metropolitan Archives and that John Harrison married Jane McNaughton, so Charlotte Blomfield must have married Samuel Holbrook.

:D

John W Harrison was at 69 Lime Street Liverpool on the 1881 census,

I looked at the 1881 Directory and His name is given as John Wilson Harrison.

I also looked at your other post heading John Wilson Harrison.

I found a marriage in Nottingham in 1866, John W Harrison another person on the page was Charlotte Briggs.

I found them on the 1900 USA census and it gave their year of marriage as 1864.

Thanks Mary & Tina,

I also found Daisy Harrison's passport application 1924, she listed her name as Daisy Maude Harrison Date of birth 21 June 1887, also her father's name as John Wilson Harrison of Liverpool (deceased).

Foundthem with their widowed father on the 1910 census, Florence is Florence M Harrison.

I found the children living together on the 1920 USA census.
