Hi anyone have spare credit for the findmypast old parish burials they used to be on familyhistoryonline..

RINGMER PARISH SUSSEX 2536 1770-1900

My 5 x Great Gran Charity Duffield lived there till her death so i am assuming shes buried there..

She was on Parish relief in 1841 so shes ended up in the Workhouse..in Ditchling but is buried in Ringmer the parish were she lived..

Ditchling nice place to visit Ann Of Cleeves House is there..

I would definitely think it worthwhile checking the Workhouse records, there must be mention of Ringmer somewhere for them to have sent her back there for burial. There could be something useful mentioned.

Yes i found that site.. Ringmer was for the children, they dont seem very big places..
Just send off to Sussex Records Office for the 1803 document the warrant for her arrest god knows what she was up to..

I know it's not the same side of the family, but still wondering why doormats keep popping into my mind

Just thinking Mary it was 1803 thats the year her hubby died and she had 6 kids eldest being 12 youngest born 1803..maybe its stealing food or something..and if a warrant is out for her arrest she must have been hiding somewhere with all these kids.

Last child George was bap in 13th May 1803 (my birthday haaa) and the warrant was for 16th April, so she must have been heavily pregnant too..what a life, have a vision of Catherine Cooksons Dwelling Place and they are living in a cave somewhere in the wilderness in Sussex haaaaaaaaaaa..

Anyway form is filled in and posted £6.50 which is not bad dying to now..

If it is Doormats i just couldnt take it i swear...

Hi Col, you're a good sport about the doormats.
Charity probably couldn't pay the rent, maybe a tithed cottage? Some bigshot money landowner wanting his pound of flesh.
