I would definitely think it worthwhile checking the Workhouse records, there must be mention of Ringmer somewhere for them to have sent her back there for burial. There could be something useful mentioned.

Hi Colette

This explains why Ditchling - it was for the elderly

Haaaaaaaaheeeeeeeee

Just thinking Mary it was 1803 thats the year her hubby died and she had 6 kids eldest being 12 youngest born 1803..maybe its stealing food or something..and if a warrant is out for her arrest she must have been hiding somewhere with all these kids.

Last child George was bap in 13th May 1803 (my birthday haaa) and the warrant was for 16th April, so she must have been heavily pregnant too..what a life, have a vision of Catherine Cooksons Dwelling Place and they are living in a cave somewhere in the wilderness in Sussex haaaaaaaaaaa..

Anyway form is filled in and posted £6.50 which is not bad dying to now..

If it is Doormats i just couldnt take it i swear...

Hi Col, you're a good sport about the doormats.
Charity probably couldn't pay the rent, maybe a tithed cottage? Some bigshot money landowner wanting his pound of flesh.
I hate him already........whoever he is :x

Good luck with East Sussex info.

Don't think we'll ever let Colette live down those doormats will we? I'm glad she takes it in good part, she knows we are just having fun.

But seriously Col you are into the era before censuses and civil registrations and your finds are extremely interesting so make sure you let us all know the details please.
