Hi everyone

On Mary Robert's marriage certificate in Dec 1873 her father is shown as Roberts Roberts, a stonemason. Mary's address is Blundell St. presumably Toxteth Park. I've been trying to find Robert on the 1871 census to see if there was a Mrs Roberts registered. Unfortunately there are many Robert Roberts to trawl through! I was wondering if anyone knows what district number Blundell St. would be in please? If mary was living with her parents at that address 2years before her marriage it just might help.

Blundell street runs between Chaloner St (the Dock Rd) and Jamaica st. This is in the Toxteth Park area

Is Mary's age given on the marriage certificate? Or do you have her as a married woman on a later census?

If so you could search for Mary on the 1871 or 1861 census using the approximate date of birth calculated from age at marriage and and with a father Robert Roberts possibly in the Toxteth Park area. Then if you get some hits you want one with a father Robert who is a stonemason.

If you have Mary on the 1881 census that'll give a place of birth so you can add that to the inromation you are using. By 1871 she may well not be at home so I'd try the 1861 census.

I'm sorry for not responding to your queries re this post. For some reason I didn't get alerts to say that there had been any replies! Not sure what to do to correct that. I just found your suggestions today when I checked the forum. Thank you for your interest and offers of help.

On their marriage certificate Robert Lloyd is down as 'full' age and Mary is 'minor'. So no help there then.

Now I have Mary living in Wolfe St, on the 1891, aged 36 and she is 56 in Tamworth St on the 1911. So now I can reckon her birth to be abt 1855. That at least gives a bit of a starting point again.

Just to say I did have squizz today with no definite finds, sorry.
Just could not find her with father Robert.
Some Mary's as servants in 1871.

What is Robert Lloyd's given occupation on the marriage certificate and what are the names and years of birth of their childre - do you have their birth certificates or baptism details?

I note you have Mary in 1891 and 1911 - are you sure you have the correct Mary and if so have you her in 1881 and 1901?

Thanks for hanging on in there! A few answers to your queries..

The witnesses to the marriage were John and Catherine Johnson. Not relatives as far as I know.

No - I haven't found Mary on the 1881 or 1901 yet. I have her children as ELLEN abt 1875, ROBERT 26 December 1878, ELIZABETH abt 1885 and MARY ANN abt. 1897.

I have Robert's birth certificate. He was born in 9crt Wolfe St.
Mother - Mary Lloyd, formerly Roberts. Father - Robert Lloyd, a labourer.

The household original for the 1911 is definitely the right family. It shows -
Robert Lloyd 60 yrs dock labourer
Mary Lloyd 57 married for 40 years, 13 children born - 9 dead 4 living.
Mary Ann Lloyd 14 yrs.
This Robert is my grt grandfather.

They are living with -
Robert Lloyd 32yrs dock labourer
Sarah Ann Lloyd 27 yrs married 9 yrs, 5 children born,2 died 3 living.
Richard 7 yrs
Robert 5
Margaret 1

This adult Robert is my grandad, the 5 yr old Robert is my dad.
They are living in 6 Tamworth St.
As is often the case the ages don't tally exactly. My dad was born 27 December 1904, Richard was born October 1903.

Yes I agree, not too sure It's not the first time I've seen ages way out though I have 2 that are way out but definitely right family... someone who is 60 in 1851 but 80 in 1861, and a married couple who are 10 yeras younger in 1861 than they were in 1851 but without a doubt they are the same
