Missing Croft

Seeing you seem to have found the missing Caves, here is another one from me !

My Gt Grandfather Richard Croft born 20.4.1857 in Portland Street, Liverpool and died September 1934 - address 11 Harford Lane, Liverpool from burial details at Ford. I have him up to 1888 when he registered his wife Mary Ann's death at Townson Street, Liverpool. In 1891 two of his children Robert and Ellen (my grandmother) were with their great aunt in Goosnargh, Preston and Ellen was also there in 1901. Can't find Robert in 1901 but both Robert and Ellen are on the 1911 and married. The other child Elizabeth was adopted and with Massey and Alty family in Ford Lane, Litherland in 1891, 1901 and 1911. I have been on the forum previously for information on Elizabeth.

I do not think that Richard married again according to family, there was talk that he worked at Belmont Road Hospital. His occupation in 1881 was a Coal Dealer and that is as much as I have. He was at 6 Job Street then RG11/3700/6/5.

If anyone has directories that may list him or can find him in 1891-1901 or 1911 I would be very grateful, I have got segs on my eyes looking for him over the years. :?

Jan this is the one I spoke to you about at the Punch Bowl.

I would suspect this might be Robert in 1901

Royal Navy on the Edinburgh, in Kent,
Robert Croft Crew Single 20 A.B. Navy Man Lancashire Liverpool
RG13; Piece: 817; Folio: 23; Page: 9

and just who's been visiting the PUnch Bowl without asking the rest of us to join you?

Mary,

I think you must have been there drinking with the rest of us at the Punch Bowl. It is RICHARD Croft I am searching for not Robert

Just realised that you have looked for Richard's son Robert who I hadn't been able to find in 1901. I don't know if he was ever in the navy though.

Who has been checking up on Jan and I on the Bootle site? Must say we did have a wonderful day.

Hi Eileen
Mary was looking for baby Robert from 1881 census who could be in the Navy aged 20 bn Lpool in 1901 census.
Mary didn't go to the Punchbowl as Lpool genie's weren't invited!!

Hi Eileen,

I will have a look and see if I can find anything for you.

By the way, thanks for the link (pardon the pun) to the Richmond pig!

Aww Mary and Tina,

Sorry you were missed off the invites to the meet-up at the Punchbowl, it was a Bootle history forum meet-up, so maybe we could get you to the next one we have, we are waiting for a member from Texas who is also on here to contact us, he is in England at the moment and we are going to try and arrange something for him whilst he is here, but so far he has not contacted us to say he has arrived.

Hi Eileen
Can't find Townson St
Could it be Towson ?? It was in Everton so would be West Dby rego I think, where Mary Ann's 1888 death was rego'd.

Tks

Tina, just checked the death certificate and it is 22 Towson Street, death was registered 19th March 1888. It was West Derby, Everton North as you have said.

Maybe someone could check directories for the addresses in 1889-90 and also maybe 1934 when Richard died.

Robert his son who I haven't confirmed as found in 1901, married in 1908 in Preston so I suspect that he may still have been around that area.

Just trying to fill in gaps :)

Thanks for looking.

Eileen
