When you say "after" do you mean more recently?

Hi Mary

Yes I am trying to locate the siblings of my Teresa Lockwood and I cannot find them after they appeared in the 1891 census - just trying to get all the information on this family

"1901 District St George Industrial School, South Everton
Bernard Lockwood School Boy 10 Firewood Chopper Liverpool
RG13; Piece: 3486; Folio: 116; Page: 6."

Thanks for finding Bernard - what was an Industrial School

I've deleted my post with Annie and Robert and other children as I've found that there is another family in the 1891 census comprising Joseph, Annie and the same children, maybe they are related to your Robert.

Here's a good link to read about Industrial Schools http://www.hiddenlives.org.uk/articles/ ... chool.html

Looking in 1911 index there's a Robert Lockwood who would fit the bill for age - born 1881 in Liverpool, who is listed as being "Overseas Military".

Out of curiosity, where does John get his middle name of Parle from? is this name somewhere in your ancestors?

Hi

I assume that the family were Catholic. You could try writing to:

Pat McEvoy
c/o Nugent Care Society
99 Edge Lane, Liverpool. L7 2PE

She may be able to help. You will have to prove your relationship to the children. Also I will be at the Record Office on Saturday I will have a quick look in the Liverpool Workhouse records, to see if the children were admitted there before being transferred to the Industrial School.

I'm thinking mother died, father couldn't cope, what happened to the older boys? could they have been sent to Canada or somewhere? Anybody with FMP who could check the names on outgoing ships please?

Hi Victoria

There is a searchable data base for Children sent to Canada.

If you go through Google and just type in Home Children that should take you to the site.

_ Thanks Mary - Joseph was Robert's brother!

Have not come across the name Parle before, the boys names were

Robert Leo Lockwood b 1881
John Parle Lockwood b 1883
James Augustine Lockwood b 1886
Bernard Gerard Lockwood b 1890

maybe connected to Latin names (Catholic church?)

Thanks Katie too for the link but the boys didn't seem to appear!

Just a hint that if you come across a connection in your family to the surname Parle, this name tends to have it's roots in Wexford, Ireland.
