The only point I can verify at present is a good starting point

Alice Burke married John Burke at Liverpool St Peter, 1914 between October and December.

Might I suggest that you get details of this marriage and check the status of Alice as LancashireBMD doesn't have this marriage down with two names as is usual with a widow.

If you check the forum messages, you will find that Simone is offering to do simple look ups at the REcord Office at the weekend, if you add these details onto her message she might be good enough to check it for you.

It's ok Mary, I'll have a look at the marriage if jupiter32 would like me to :?: :)

Would ask though, are you sure Alice's first husband was called Mark, where is this info from? Is everything you have word of mouth or do you have any marriage/birth certificates to verify? Only ask because there is a marriage on Lancs BMD site of Alice McDermott to a Matthew Burke in 1898 can't look at that one though as it is Register Office one.

We'll start with the one Mary found though, I'll let you know what it says.

Hi i think we should try to find MARK with ALICE in 1901..sorry if we got you to thinking it was a Matthew..but i guess its coinsidence that he and and Alice McDermott married and had a daughter Mary in 1900.

Just thinking though this Alice who marries John Burke in 1914 is the same Alice who married Matthew.. as her father is Martin the Shoemaker.. and Spring PLace was her address

The Sansburys are correct i hope..

could Matthew and mark be one and the same person, maybe he didn't like that name Mark :? or had both names, one as a middle name :?:

shame the Matthew/Alice marrige is register office/regiatrar attended, could have had a look at that one to confrim that they are the same person

I acn't find a Matthew that fits with dad Michael and the Mark age is about right :?

Hi

This is getting strange..you find a Mark & John who are brothers.. dad Michael.. then come 1901 no sign of Mark..can't see a marriage for a Mark Burke in the Liverpool area.. yet we see a Matthew Burke marriage to an Alice McDermott.. who is the correct name of the lady Mark married..
Then the 1914 marriage of Alice to John, Alice has the same father that the Alice had who was married to Matthew had..so she if deffo the same Alice..

Question are we sure that Alice remarried this John in 1914..i found some kids that maybe theres.. Jan needs to confirm this..

Alice 1914
Jane 1914 poss twins

John 1917
Thomas 1917 poss twins

Isabella 1921

ALL BURKE ALL MOTHER MCDERMOTT

Hi Col

BMD's has

1 Birth's - Matthew Burke sep q 1876 Liverpool
1 death Matthew Burke sep q 1876 Liverpool

also
Death Matthew Burke mar q 1908 Liverpool, birth 1877

birth Mar q 1876
Mark Burke

wouldn't be the first time someone kept chopping and changing their name to fox us would it

added later - i've amended the above as there is actually only 1 birth Matthew in Liverpool 1876, the other was in Haslingden, Lancs ..sorry

the marraige did say she was a widow so that would fit with the 1908 death for Matthew.
