Hi
I wonder if anyone can throw light on this for me please?
I've found a death for FRANCIS J CLINE 4Q 1926 8b202 at 1yr.
I cannot find the birth on ancestry or FreeBMD but have found it on Liverpool BMD in 1925. How can I find the mother's maiden name as this isn't shown on Liverpool BMD?
Many thanks.

Popsey.
Another strange Case?
I have a sub for Familyrelatives.org (a pay site) which has photo Transcripts of all the BMDs & I can't find a Francis J CLINE listed on the Births (from 1924-1926), obviously some error in the Transcripts!

Hi
Approaching it from a different way - there is a 1918 marriage of Francis Cline to Margaret Bridson in the June qtr 1918 Toxteth Park Volume 8b Page 240
The Lancs BMD birth entry for Francis was registered in Toxteth Park
A Christina Cline was b 1919

Popsey,
This is just a thought I could be wrong but there is a birth in Jan 1926 of a Francis J Clive Liverpool, mmn Colligan. Maybe it is a typo on the registers and perhaps born late Dec 1925, so birth reg 1926.
Name: Francis J Clive
Mother's Maiden Surname: Colligan
Date of Registration: Jan Feb Mar 1926
Registration district: Liverpool
Registration county: Lancashire
Volume Number: 8b
Page Number: 356
I found this marriage in 1925
COLLIGAN Mary E CLINE Francis Liverpool, Register Office or Registrar Attended Liverpool REG_LP/353/40
If you think it is the one you are looking for, I would suggest ordering the birth cert from Liverpool Cotton Exchange.
Hope that is of some help.

A book has been written about the errors in the indexes and registrations of BMD's. This sounds like one of those classic instances, there must be hundreds of them, where the local registers were sent off, as usual every three months, to the central collection point and copied into the GRO index and something has gone wrong. It's easy to see how it happened, but I wonder if it's only the one entry or whether it might be the whole three month register from Toxteth.
I looked at the entry in LancsBMD and in error I clicked on the marriages - do you realise that coincidentally there is a marriage of Francis Cline to Mary E Colligan in 1925 - I wonder if these would be his parents? although the registration district is Liverpool and not Toxteth.

Good one Jan! you were a step ahead of me there
If you think this is your entry, they also had another couple of children - Frances M in 1927 and Eileen M in 1929

Thought it must be something like that, but it makes it a bit confusing doesn't it

Thank you all for your efforts and help.
I think I've got it straight now...
Francis Cline married twice.
1918 to Margaret Bridson. They had Christina in 1919 and Margaret died in 1922.
Then he married Mary E Colligan in 1925. They had Frances M (girl) in 1927, Eileen M in 1929. It now looks as though they also had Francis J (boy) in 1925.
Sadly, Mary also died in 1929.
Thanks again for your help.
