Can someone advise wheather it is possible to order Death Cert. from the GRO for some one who died in WW1.
Have details from "Index to War Deaths" which gives year/vol/page, is this enough?
Did they even issue death cert's for war deaths?
Many thanks in advance

Yes - all should be registered.

Most definitely available if you have the Index details. Just log on to the GRO site:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certi ... efault.asp
Scroll down to item 10 on their list of events - Death Certificate (Overseas events), then continue as you would for a 'normal' event.

Dickiesam you are a star, many thanks.
Have another question for you, is it possible to get a copy of Enlistment Papers? if that's what they were called. Looking for a next of kin, which is not shown on his war record.

Hi Kebs,
I feel sure one of the military history aces on this forum will be able to answer that. I know it's possible in some cases.
I am sure that ideally you should know the unit he was serving with when he died and his Army number. If you don't know, then post the full name of the deceased up here together with the date of death and we'll try to find that info for you.
