Could anyone help me, How would I find out if and when someone was in prison.
I have just found out one of my ancestors a female was in prison in the 1910's and would like to verify if its true, but don't know were to start looking. Would be most greatful.

For that date unfortunately any newspaper reports there might be won't be available online, however, you could search them in the Records Office. Also the Quarter Sessions, for example
347 QUA Borough of Liverpool Court of Quarter Sessions 1724-1956
M347 PSK Kirkdale Petty Sessions 1885-1962
It might be worthwhile checking this site

Hi Tina, The person that told me about her said she got it off 1911.
I dont have it myself, but had the free look and it says, Institution West Derby so I'm not sure whether it is a prison? as she had a son in 1912 was he born in or out?

Only way of finding that out is from the birth certificate.
