Hi All, I have a death (I think) that I can't find, I've looked at Free BMD, Lancs BMD and Anc 1886-1892 and cannot find it.

1886 Henry Aspinall married Ann McArdle (His father is John)
1891 Census Ann Aspinall - Widow

I don't know where else to look - any ideas would be appreciated - thanks - Holly....

Hi Holly

When and where was Henry born? What was his occupation? Are you sure the 1891 census for Ann is your Ann if you see what I mean? When and where was she born?

Hoping a little more information might help us with your search

Hello Holly,
If you have the marriage cert for Henry and Anne, it will tell you what his age and occupation was.:
Marriages Dec qtr 1886: Henry Aspinall to Ann McCardle - Liverpool - 8b - 89.

If you are sure you have the right Ann Aspinall - widow - in the 1891, this info might fit with the death below and explain why he was in Greenwich (a sailor perhaps?).
Deaths Jun 1887: Aspinall, Henry - 25 - Greenwich - 1d - 592.

There are only 4 HA deaths between Dec 1886 and Mar 1891 in all counties and the 25 year old above seems the best prospect. The others are 15, 68 and 0. You'll need to get the death cert to confirm his spouse.
Cheers,
Dickiesam

Hi Ed Officer and thank you for your reply. I dont have anything at all on young Henry and have just looked at my info on Ann - I'm getting a bit mixed up here I think, my Ann is from Sparling Street brother George and father Bernard. Hi Dickiesam and thank you for your response. The info given on the wedding cert does not give ages or occupations only addresses and Dads, again Ann is at Sparling Street, she married my Gt Grandad in 1892 and her address is still Sparling St, but I didnt expect her to be a widow.

Thank you both for your help - Holly xx

Hi Holly,
Mystified! Are you saying that the marriage cert for Henry and Ann has no ages given and that the 'boxes' where this info should be are blank or has "Of Full Age" written in? And most unusual for no occupation for the groom.

What was Henry's father's occupation and is he shown as deceased? And what was Henry's address on the cert?

Hi Dickiesam - the copy of the cert I have is from the Liverpool History Project site for R.C Marriages - the info is basic in that it shows groom and bride, fathers name, witnesses and addresses - I've only seen a Catholic Marriage Cert once before so I'm assuming the Registrars copy has all the relevant details. I have posted a message for a look up and so wait with much eagerness!! Holly

The Catholic marriage register does not contain quite the same information as the Registrar's register. The Registrar's register is identical to the C of E Marriage Register it is not the same as the Catholic church marriage register book.

To get the information such as age, occupation, and father's occupation you will need to purchase a certificate from the GRO. The Catholic marriage entry will give the couples' names and their father's names and an address for each. It will not give ages or occupations. It will be in Latin.
