Would anyone have Liverpool Directories for 1920+-? A lookup would be so appreciated. I'd like to try to work out when my Cousin(x1 removed) may have died.
William J. Mitchell...FreeBMD have several but how to tell which may or not be him? Usually a Toxteth Park address, in 1911 He was at 88 London Rd L'pool, a Public House manager. Always in this line of work.
His son Harry Thomas, Civil Servant ?aged 16 b.1894 also hard to find.
Can anyone help place these chaps please? I'd like to marry off Harry but so many takers!!!.
cheers Wendyem.

Wm Mitchell was manager of that pub in 1909 - the Swan Inn. It has featured on this forum before - was it your enquiry?
Sorry I have nothing later than '09.

Hi Wendy
I don't think any in the forum has a Directory for the 1920s sorry..
You've found him in 1911 census, what age was he?
It will give us an idea when looking for his death.
Tks

Okies I found Harry Thomas through the free search and looks like his Mum/Dad & sibs in Lpool.
William would be 49 in 1911 born circa 1862?
If he lived to a ripe old age, it could well be that the volunteers at Free BMD haven't subscribed his death yet.
There's death in Lpool rego 1914 for a William J Mitchell aged 52 yrs which would fit in with age at 1911 (Free BMD)
Good luck Wendy

I have 1914 directory which was probably put together in 1913, but here goes.
William Mitchell Swan Inn 88 London Road, and livery stables proprietor 2 St Vincent Street.
Hope that is of help.

Thanks Daggers, didn't know the name of the establishment before, if that was he in 1911.
twice now I've knocked myself off the screen trying to get this typed up.
Thanks Tina. William b.1862 W.Derby. Always in the Hotel trade.
after 1911 several deaths could be his, which is why I ask for later mentions in Directories.
I'm also trying to get a hold on Harry T. maybe he was in the War games so many played then. Maybe didn't survive. I'd like to marry him off & so continue the line there if possible. Just need to have another line lingering in Liverpool. Or where -ever they may have gone on to.
cheers Wendyem

Glad to help Wendy.
Sadly the pub is no longer there, the building is a Machinery superstore now.
You can see it on street view on google maps.
