Hi Lisa,
Think we may be on to something here, thanks to Northmeols
This is my William's marriage from Lanc OPC. Church same and Ann Eden is a common witness.
Marriage: 13 Jan 1811 St Mary the Virgin, Prescot, Lancashire, England
William Eden - Collier bachelor of Parr
Ellen Rhoden - (X), spinster of Parr
Witness: Henry Bate, (X); Ann Eden, (X)
Married by Banns by: John Kirby - Minister
Register: Marriages 1788 - 1812, Page 160, Entry 960
Source: LDS Film 1657584 item 10
Now, what we really need to know is William's baptism details to see if they have common parents and we could be away! There are a coulpe of IGI candidates in 1780 and 1782, so not sure how we progress.
Thoughts anyone.
Chris

At that date you need to be looking around at whatever other documents might be available.
There might be land registers or rent books. Check the National Archives and for Wills
http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... php?t=7142 There is at least one entry for a Eden in Parr down the list of Wills, although it's an Edward you never know who he might mention so might be useful.

Wow,
thanks to both of you for that!
It does look distinctly possible, doesn't it?
I will see if I can find Ann Eden on IGI and follow the other link for the will too.
Fingers crossed...
Lisa.
Ok, I will order a copy of Edward Eden's will from 1811, as it is possible he might be their father? I'll update when it arrives.

Be careful how you sort this out. Another "user" has submitted details about John Eden, definitely the same John since they give the christening at the correct date of 03 MAY 1789 Saint Helens, but also listed is a marriage to Susan Taylor on 17 MAY 1813 St Mary'S, Prescot.
So either he had two marriages or somebody has followed an incorrct John .....
Edited to remove incorrect adding up!

Susan,
if you don't mind me asking, where did you get this inormation from? Obviously it takes the line back three more generations so is a rich vein....
Thanks ever so much,
Lisa.
By the way, in my humble opinion, the Susan/Sarah has to be a transcription error somewhere, i.e. there is only one marriage, as the marriage date and place are the same? Am I being too simplistic?
Also, with a dob of 1789, to be married in 1813, John Eden would have been 24, not 14??

I would agree and did comment above on being wary of a "user submitted" entry, however even with extracted entries we always recommend that you view the originals for yourself. Susan has given the film numbers for the LDS library, so if you aren't in the Merseyside area to view them at either the local library (I suspect Prescot might be held in Huyton but check first) or the Record Office, then you will be able to order them at your local LDS centre.

Hi Chris, I am wondering if your William Eden had a daughter Margaret who married Daniel Halsall?.

Hi Sylvia,
Long time since I visited this branch of the family, so I'm a bit rusty on them. I'm afraid I haven't pursued any of the children of William and Ellen Rhoden, other than son Henry b 1813. I take it you have a connection?

Hi Chris, I'm not sure to be honest, my Margaret Eden was my gt.gt. grandmother and I've only ever been able to find her father William Eden. Margaret was born in 1812 and baptised at St. Helens Chapel, she married Daniel Halsall in 1839, having already had 3 children by him by that date. I was hoping that maybe your William and Ellen, were her parents as the marriage date looked pretty good. Maybe at some point I'll be able to confirm it. Thanks anyway Chris.
