Hi Holly

Electoral Rolls list who is entitled to vote nothing else.

To find who owned the building could be very difficult. However the Rate books if they exist may show the owner however I cannot imagine they have survived.

As you want something in 1911 there is a possibility BUT it's quite hard to do and involves visiting the National Archives!!

In the 1910/11 years there was a Land Valuation Survey for tax for the whole country. The results are kept at the National Archives

1. Get the 1908 25 inch to the mile OS map showing the street you want
2. Armed with map go to the National Archives and get help to find the correct map of the Land Valuation Survey. This has to be ordered up
3. Then take the numbers inscribed on the Nat Archives map and copy them to your map.
4. Using the numbers you want and their help people get the right field booked ordered
5. Look up the entries for the numbers you want
6. The entry should list the owner the occupier the rent the rateable value etc and describe the property

Our family shop of the time is described as a "poor place" "good piece of land"

It's fascinating but very complicated and time consuming, but you did ask!
and is only of use for 1910/11.

PS see if Liverpool Record office holds and rate books of the time

Hi Ed Officer and thank you for your indepth and informative response - actually - having read your response I'm not a bit interested anymore !!! Joking apart - it's interesting to know that it is indeed possible in some cases to find these little snippets - and arent they a dream to find!?!

Thank you for your time and as for me - back to the knitting !! Holly ....
