Without the name of the home it's a very difficult question to answer and there have been many on here asking the same thing.
If you can give any more information perhaps the crew might have some ideas. Which religion? What ages? What years - perhaps they were listed on one of the censuses? Did they go to Canada or Australia as Home Children?
I had hoped that there was a leaflet amongst the
Information Guides at the Liverpool Record Office but there doesn't seem to be one specifically for Orphanages, maybe the one for School Records or the Poor Law and Workhouses one will also give you some ideas.

the home was named minster lodge in ormskirk the year i would be interested in is 1961-1969 thanks sally

It might be a good idea to telephone the school direct and ask them if they still hold records for that date, or if not where they have been lodged.

If the records do exist unless they are about yourself it is unlikely they will give out any information for so close a date.
