Shakeshaft family search

Looking for information or descendants of Harper Shakeshaft (Jones). In the early 1940's Harper was a lodger/boarder at a house on Wilson Patten Street, Warrington, he would have been in his late 40's early 50's at that time. The landlady's name was Mrs Hardy. Sometimes he used the surname Shakeshaft Jones. He had one child that I know of, the child lived in Manchester with her mother. It's a long shot I know but I have no other information.

I think you need to post your request in a few places where possible descendants might see them.

I'm sorry I don't know the local newspaper for Warrington, I hope another of our forum members will be able to help you there, but you can post in the Liverpool Echo Old Pals Section at www.icliverpool.co.uk

Is there any chance his name could really have been Kenneth? There's a death of a Kenneth Shakeshaft Jones in May 1986 Derby, Derbyshire, age 74 (Born 5 August 1911).

Good luck

Many thanks for your help MaryA & Susan, I think the Kenneth Shakeshaft Jones may be a sibling, this is the first time I have seen the double barrel name. I will take the advice to post in the newspapers.
Cheers, Sheila.

As Susan's finds are all in the right location, I believe they are worth very serious consideration.

I must thank Mary A for her information on Kenneth Shakeshaft Jones, a cousin of my mother for whom I only knew his birth year. Just to confirm the family name is Jones, the name Shakeshaft derives from a marriage between the Jones and Shakeshaft families. see my web pages www.audcent.com click on genealogy of the Peat family to find Kenneth.

Hi David,
I have been searching for a family of Harper Shakeshaft Jones for a long time: this is an empty branch on my family tree. It is such a long time since I had any replies to my search question, I was really surprised to get notification that you had added some information. I tried to log onto the audcent.com page but received the message it could not be found! Do you have any information re the family that you could kindly share with me? I look forward to your reply and thank you for your input.
Kind regards, Sheila.

Hi Sheila,
Try http://www.audcent.com/ Unfortunately David seems to have a typo with a comma immediately after the 'com' and it has become part of the URL.

Many thanks to everone for dealing with my page URL. Sheila the only information I have is at the bottom of the page dealing with the Peat Genealogy. As stated it would appear that you are actually wishing to search the Jones family. Does it or did it help!! I would welcome the results of your own investigations if you do find anything relevant.
