myles family?liverpool store

i have been trying to trace john wohlers born 1837 in germany he married his first wife an annie myles in liverpool in dec 1859.an elderly relative has told me that annie myles family were involved in a liverpool store called ray & myles.has anyone got any info that could help me ?i couldnt find it in a trade directory i checked.

Ray and Miles was a well known furniture store in London Rd Liverpool .established in 1864 dont know when it closed but was there in 1955 (Kellys Directory)

There was certainly a furnishing store , but I am pretty sure it was Ray and MILES. Probably last based in Bold Street.

have just realised my sister worked for Ray and Miles in the early 1970.s then they changed to Maples and moved to Bold Street

Hi all the adverts in the Liverpool Mecury Newspaper is Ray & Miles..


John Wohlers death is in newspaper..

Jan 24th 1882 283 Great Homer St John Wohlers ages 45 years..

Theres info on a Henry Wohlers and wife Louisa incase they were related.. they lived at 186 Netherfield Rd..

Sad hey Collette, his death you found as there are 2 little kiddies.
There are also Peterson step kiddies of John's bn Germany.
This cannot be the hubby of Ann?

Hi have you seen the spelling of the surname Myles on a childs birth cert or is it the marriage cert..saying MYLES that you are going by.. what if Annie couldnt write.. and they have spelt Miles that way..

a birth cert of a child of theirs may have it as Miles if not maybe its just an old family tale..

thanks everyone for the help.i havent got any certs for annie she was johns first wife her daughter (my great grandmother )went to boarding school after she died, not sure if it was before he married johanna.i wasnt sure of the spelling of myles or miles ive been given both spellings i know they were married at st peters liverpool in dec 1859 if anybody could do a look up i would be grateful

Post a request for a look up - headed up correctly with the look up request and be sure of your details - eg. is it December? or December quarter?

Marr John Wohlers to Johanna J Petersen
1878 R.O or Rego attended.

Annie was John's first wife but was he her 2nd hubby?
and could you tell us more about lass who went to boarding school please.

Have you also seen the marriage of John Wohlers to Margaret Monteith 11 JUN 1871 Walton-On-The-Hill . His father also John Wohlers and hers Abraham Bark.
