Davis/Davies/Smith family in Liverpool 1890s - Lithuanian

Hi:
I'm not sure where to start but hoping someone recognizes this story or can help. A son Anthony was born in Liverpool 11 June 1895 or 10 June 1896 (or a combination of those dates) to a woman named Mary who was from Lithuania. We believe she was married to a man of Welsh descent named Davis (or possibly Davies or similar). She had another son named John, also born in Liverpool, probably 1 Oct 1893, and another son Frank born in Liverpool probably 16 July 1899. At some point between Frank's birth and about 1905 Mr. Davis/Davies died and Mary & sons moved to New York. At some point they also changed their name to Smith, family story is that she met and married John Smith in New York. I suppose it is also possible that she met and married him in Liverpool before they moved, or that Mr. Davis never existed at all and they were always Smith. I have been unable to find anything on this family before 1910 when they were living with Mr. Smith in NY... I would love to be able to confirm this story with details from Liverpool but haven't found anything in the BMD database online. Thank you for reading and I hope someone can help!
