Hi Kathleen,
I agree with Dominex that you should definitely change your log-in name but you can't do it in your Profile. I'd send a PM (private message) to a moderator, MaryA, asking for advice. You can contact her by PM by clicking her name under the Liverpool heading on the opening page of the forum.
Re James Guthrie etc, have you got the marriage cert for himself and Annie Kelly? That will give you respective ages and father's names. With that info you can then 'trawl' the censuses and FreeBMD, and get help from the folk on this forum.
Good luck.

Hi Kathleen and welcome to the forum.
I sent you a pm shortly after you joined the forum, as I thought maybe before you posted would be the best time to deal with a change of name.
I think you would now be best to contact Peter Joliffe our Administrator, you will see the link to his name on each of the boards, and ask if there is anything he is able to do.

1901 census 1 Monk Street Everton. RG13/3476 folio 55a page 13
James is with his mother Isabella and his widowed sister Beatrice Cornwall, she has two young children.
I think this could be Beatrice's marriage.

Hi Kathleen,
When you've been trying to find things for as long as I have, you get to know the sites to look at

Mind you it's only been about 5 years for me, and I still forget to look places
I was with ancestry until last month, when they changed their subscriptions. I'm using find my past now, which I'm still trying to get used to.
The christenings I got from
http://www.familysearch.org
There's a list of useful websites in another section of this forum. I'm sure you'll have fun checking some out

Just out of curiosity, did James and Annie name any of their children with the names of this James's siblings, because the only way of knowing if this is him for definate, would be to order the marriage cert of James and Annie and find out his Father's name and occupation and address, and witnesses.
If it is the right James, then hopefully someone may be able to look up the marriage of is parents, James Guthrie and Isobella Henry.

Hi Kathleen
I checked the Guthrie-Henry Marriage for St Peter's Parish Church Mar quarter 1868 and could find no trace of it. I did however find the Cornwall-Guthrie Marriage as follows:
St Chrysotom's
29.10.1893 Walter William Cornwall - 23 - Bachelor - Policeman of 28 Upper High Street - son of James Walter Cornwall (Deceased) - Rigger to Beatrice Guthrie - 20 - Spinster of 28 Upper High Street - daughter of James Guthrie (Dec) - Joiner. After Banns by H W Watson
Witnesses Joseph Odinrode? and Emma Clarke - All signed the register
If you PM me with your e-mail I have a photo of the entry.

James Guthrie who lived with Isabella in Monk Street, died in 1949 and was buried with his mother and sister Janet Lester in Anfield cemetry. To my knowledge he never married, but would be interested to know differently.
His mother and father both came from Kirkudbrightshire to settle in Liverpool. Isabella was a Henry - Her brother was a Thomas Henry who set up what appears to be a quite successful tea business.
