Got this info of Lancashire BMD do not know whether it is sufficient.

Ellen Williams to George B Barnsley 1916 St Mary Edge Hill

I also have one in Toxteth Park Register Office

Ellen Williams to William Lloyd 1917

As I cannot find a death for Ellen under the name Williams I suspect she married again after 1st husband died in 1915. If anyone can help steer me in the right direction with these I would be grateful.

Hi Marie :D

Someone should be able to get the Edge Hill one for you if they are going, but you will have to order the certificate for the Register Office one.

By the way, do you know that Huyton library have quite a few of the registers for Liverpool churches. Not sure if they have St Mary's but might be worth asking, or bear in mind for any other churches you may wish to look up.

Good Luck

Thank you Simone, I thought Huyton would only hold local registers?

For anybody wishing to assist with the look up of the marriage that took place in St Mary Edge Hill, it took place between October and December of 1916.

I checked the catalogue for Huyton Library and it wouldn't appear that they have a copy of this church's registers.

Please see the following link for guidance on requesting BMD look ups.

Hi Marie

I've used Huyton quite a bit, they obviously have the local ones but also have Churches such as St Peter's, St Nick's etc in Liverpool. :D

Hi Didn't Ellen and first hubby have any kids ?? if so doesnt anyone in the family know if she remarried..or are you just guessing that she would have remarried..

If she did have kids to her first marriage have you tried to track their marriages down ?

Regards

Yes there were 4 children including my father but what happened is a mystery names are Nellie, Elizabeth and Richard Williams but we only know about my Dad. I have traced the family back to Montgomeryshire in 1806 but still do not know what happened to my fathers siblings and he did not tell us, he never talked about any of them or his parents. I know his Dad died in 1915 when he was eight. I have just found this out there was only a year between them. I am finding it easier to get earlier information then 1906 to 1910. They are all on 1911 census as a family.

Thank you for trying, I really need to know if Ellen was a widow, no point in me ordering a certificate unless she was. If you go next week I would be grateful if you could check for me. Many thanks Marie

It looks as though Eileen did look at the correct year 1916 and did not find anything. Strange I shall check church again.

Can you hear me screaming!!!!!! I had St Mary's Kirkdale out for another friend when I went on Tuesday.

I should check things before I go, but just assume that whoever is asking for help has the correct church, year and quarter.

They must be suffering from the same senior moments that I have

I have altered the church on my notes for next time I go Marie.

I don't know what went wrong here but I did not get an e mail message re this, so thought it hadn't been done. Just checked the site last night and saw 42aitch's reply in April. I am sure this is it, my dad must have been looking over my shoulder prompting me to check. I am now wondering if my Dad would have been put into Seaman's orphanage under George Barnsley's name as he was a mariner. Perhaps he did not want the four children. I will have to check that one.

ELLEN WILLIAMS MARRIAGE TO GEORGE BARNSLEY

I think I am getting somewhere now. On Free BMD George B Barnsley died June 1921. So they were married 5 years, then it seems Ellen Williams now Barnsley died in March 1922. That left my Dad and siblings orphaned again when 12,14,15 and 16 years of age.

I do know my father, was said to be sent to a farm Wales when he was 14 and he ran away. Does anyone know who would be likely to send young lad's to Wales in that era.

Any information appreciated
