Hi
I think this is your Nathan Cropper
1851 census HO 107 2197 folio 352 page 39 at Aughton Street Ormskirk
James Smith H Married 43 blacksmith born Ormskirk with his wife Ellen Smith born Sephton then their children and mother in law, then
Nathan CROPPER (not indexed as that but altered) uncle married 68 formerly farmer bn Sephton
Margaret CROPPER cousin 18 born Aughton
I would suggest you need to look at the records of St Helens Church Sephton now Sefton. Copies of these are at Crosby library and also Lancashire Record Office and some on
www.familysearch.org
Possibly also Aughton Parish church and Ormskirk Church. A lot of records for Ormskirk Parish Church are on the lancashire on line parish clerks website

Hi Angela
Info Tilly gave you from 1851, surname was Copher amended to Cropper, the person who did the alteration is listed in Ancestry and is available to contact.
Just thought I'd let you know.
Have you got them in 1841? (ages rounded off)
Chaucer St Lpool, Nathan 45 grocer Sarah 35, Margaret 9, Thos 7, Henry 5, Alice 3.

Hi
Checking out your post on the Southport board I noticed Carole gave you the 1851 census in 2006. In 2008 I suggested you looked at Sephton (Sefton) parish church registers for Nathan's baptism. As he marries in Aughton I would also check Aughton for the children's baptisms.
To save confusion could you please let us know if you have looked at the Sephton Registers at Lancashire Record office or Crosby Library and the Aughton registers at Lancashire Record Office?
There are some records for Aughton, Ormskirk and Sefton (look under Liverpool Parishes) on the on Lancashire On Line Parish Register web site.

What a pity, my CD finishes Sefton - Parish Register, 1597-1783. I can confirm that he's not listed prior to that date anyway.
PS Aughton - Parish Register, 1541-1764 so that's no good either, sorry.

Thanks All for replies, sorry i,ve not been around, i,ve been ill.
Sue could you please tell me where Sarah Cropper 1841 with Nathan and Sarah,( she will be one of mine.) was found as this may be where i can find the other children.
As for Nathan being the son of Edmund from Bury, i have looked and found this Nathan married to someone esle.
I do have Nathan in the 1841 and 1851 census.marriage at Aughton, Death at Aughton.

Cropper/Bridge family

I too am looking for this family and for Nathan's sister, Catherine Cropper born c1780. They both appear on the 1851 census staying with the Smith family in Aughton Street Ormskirk, Catherine is a cooper's widow aged 70 and is shown in her married name of Catherine Bridge. I am trying to connect this Bridge family with Thomas Bridge's family in Maghull. I suspect that Thomas is the son of John Bridge and Catherine Cropper but so far have no proof. Any thoughts gratefully received.
Pat
thanks to all.
