I am trying to trace William Davies. This is what I have on him: His Son William Edward Davies was born in Slangfield, Newtown, Montgomeryshire on August 11th 1851. At some point he moved to Liverpool and married a local girl Margaret Pickard on 23rd September 1877.
I have William Edward's birth certificate which states his Father was William Davies a Weaver and his Mother was Harriott Brick (it certainly looks like Brick anyway!) I've tried different variations of her surname but can't find anything. Her Christian name is also spelt slightly different.
I have tried all the usual sites for their marriage or her/his birth i.e Free BMD, Family Search etc with no luck. Can anyone help please?
Name: Williams Davies
Age: 28
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1823
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Harriott
Gender: Male
Where born: Newtown, Montgomeryshire, Wales Handloom weaver
just found the Davies Family on the 1881 Census on Family Search so the whole family must have moved to Liverpool at some point. All the Children were born in Newtown Montgomeryshire and William has become a Porter after working as a Handloom Weaver in Wales. Just need to sort out why Harriet's surname is that of her Mother rather than the Father, thanks again for all your help,
I'm wondering who this little Harry belongs too?
Birth Harriott Brick
sep qtr 1841 Newtown, Mont, Powys.

If he was the 1 from London, he must've left his mark in Newtown
Sad that these poor baby Valentines died at birth or a few months old The 1st one just missed the 1871 census.
There must be a link somewhere. I can't find any trace of Susannah Bricks though there were 2 that came up for the 18th century in Montgomeryshire.
Tina, you've got me a bit puzzled regarding the '2 little Val's' born and died in Newtown!
Harriet Brick was born in 1816 naming Valentine Tilsley as the Father, Valentine Tilsley married Married Mary Lloyd in London in 1824, 8 years after Harriet was born. Were they the same person? It's a good bet they were one and the same, the name isn't exactly common!
I've been to the library today and found William and Harriet Davies (nee Brick) and family on the 1871 1881 and 1891 census so I've been able to fill in a few gaps.
Amazingly Brick seems to be quite a common name around the Montgomeryshire area so it's possible Sue that the one of the Susannah's you've found could be the Grandma.

Morning all.
Don't know if this might come in handy .....whilst mooching through collected bits and bobs I came across "Montgomeryshire Records" Parish of Castle Caereinion Register of Baptisms, Burial and Marriages 1663 - 1743. Only a mention of a John, a Jane and a Richard Brick. I know, going far back but at the end there's a list of publications from Montgomeryshire Genealogical Society. There are a couple of Mochdre marriage ones, covering 1783 - 1970 along with Banns (1824 - 1976) and Burial registers (1813 - 1993) Also a couple of Parish registers available. Hope this helps Roy.
Kindest, Pauline.
First of all please accept my apologies for not getting back to you quicker after my holiday's. My other half came back with some kind of nasty virus then, after she got herself right I went down with what appears to be some kind of chest infection, not man flu - honest!! We are both o.k now thankfully
Anyway, back to the Davies Family. They are not my relatives but those of Pam (my other half). Most of the information I have on William Davies and Harriette Brick is what I've found and posted on this forum plus information found by Sue, Tina etc. I do have information on one or two of their children i.e Harriette Davies b.c1850 and William Edward Davies b. c1851 Pam is related directly to William Edward Davies. I'm more than happy to pass on any information I have. You can contact me with a P.M or through your personal e.mail address if you prefer.
