Norval Marley -another street address look up.
Greeting to all of you who gave me so much help last time.
Someone just found a new address on a passenger list to Jamaica
in 1923. He was living at 64 Breakfield Rd., Boodle, Lancs.
at the time. I am hoping so hard that he was staying with relatives.
Can someone see who were the residents ?
Thanks lots !

Hi i looked at this link and entered both breakfield and breckfield rd
http://www.1901censusonline.com/results ... =ad_search
breckfield rd came up but not breakfield, I also looked at google maps and breckfield came up, althouht it is more towards everton way, however, someone on here will probably know better than I if this area was possibly part of bootle then? Also looked on www.old-maps.co.uk, you can type in an address and it will show you maps from 1851 onwards, once again breckfield on there, but not breakfield.

Yes ! Thanks- I entered it in Google and it came up with BreCkfield
as a suggested spelling. That came up in the 1901 census online, so I'm asking around if any friends have a subscription to access the residents
names. If not maybe I'll pay the 5 quid and hope that its not a hotel as it often is with my travelling ancestors.

Hi Chris
As Doreen states it was the Thirlmere Hotel for definite as I have just helped someone else with this address as the owner of the pub was a Walter Thompson who was a relation of theirs.
The pub has now been demolished and is recreational ground, acutually the address was ...
64 Breckfield Rd
North Everton
and as Doreen also states the ship was in Bootle Docks, the above addres was also present in 1894 and also come comes up as 1 Thirlmere Road as it was on the corner.
Maybe SKP (some kind person)could do an Electoral Roll look up for you in the LRO in a new post
Cheers

Big hugs and thanks to all you girls !
Old Norval has eluded us again temporarily but we will
find him soon.... he cannot escape !
)
At least I have learnt that on this trip he was probably on his way back to
Jamaica after WW1 and working in Lagos Nigeria probably
with the Briitish/Colonial Police there.

Be careful and I would suggest we ask Jan about an address in Bootle, she knows a lot about the area, because Breckfield Road and the Thirlmere Hotel is in Anfield.

Hiya,
I have looked for anything remotely close to Breckfield in Bootle, and there was nothing, the only other place was a house called "Brickfield" which was on Derby Road (Bootle Docks area) but the house was in relation to an old brick works in the area, but I don't know how long it was there for, it was there in 1907.
I have a 1923 street index (streets only) but I can't get the disc to work on the comp, I will try and sort it out.
I am sure that it is Breckfield, the one in Anfield. I remember the "Thirlemere" pub, my friend's grandad used to drink in there and lived in the street it was on the corner of.
I will have a look in 1901 census on CD and see what else I can find.

Hi
I've had a look at the passenger list I think is mentioned.
It's the Bayano sailing from Bristol on 2 July 1923 to Panama
Norval Marley is stated to be 40 a Ferro Concrete merchant. His last country of residence is given as England and he is contracted to land at Kingston Jamaica. His last address is definitely given as 64 Breakfield Road Bootle Lancs.

Thanks Tilly,
Nothing in the 1923 street directory, Breckfield Road North and South I can find.
I can only think that the Bootle bit is wrong, or maybe it depends on the boundary at the time, someimes Bootle came under Walton-on-the hill, although it wasn't in Walton!

This has been puzzling me for a bit now.
There is a Bootle in Cumbria, I am wondering if it came under Lancaster and shortened to Lancs

I know Bootle (Cumbria) is in Millom, I am not sure what district it would be under though I don't think it could be Lancaster.

Hi All
Interesting the ship sailed from Bristol not Lpool.
I think it was one of Fyffes banana boats.
bound to Cristobel in Panama.
His occupation is a Merchant aged 40.

I may have got some info wrong here but are we talking about Bob Marley's father Norval Marley?
I read that he is of British descent, but was born in Jamiaca.
I wonder where the British relatives came into it? anyway, I found this on TNA.
