Phillip Eaton - mother Devereux

I am trying to find Phillip in any records. I can find no record of his birth at all.
So what do I know about him?
His Mother Ethel Devereux (1891 - ) Liverpool W.Derby
I have been told his name was not Devereux - but Eaton
A marriage record was found for me by peeps on here
There is a record of Ethel Devereaux marrying Albion G Eaton in 1917. Then a birth record of Leslie Eaton (mother Devereaux) in 1919
I have newspaper clippings from 1942 - he was a POW - his family Birthday Wishes in for him - for his 22nd Birthday (june sometime) and then there is another picture of him in the POW camp and it states that he 23 (this is dated Jan 2 1942) giving him a birth year of 1919/20.
There is a birth record for a brother Leslie in 1919. We also know there is a sister called Hilda (not found her yet - though not sure if she is Eaton or Redmond....Ethel married AGAIN!)
I have found a birth record for PAULINE Eaton in 1921 - 1st q.
So what are the chances of his name being wrongly transcribed from the original copies?
The Birthday wishes come from
Mother and George (stepfather)
Alec, leslie and Hilda - (note, no Pauline)
Autie Claire (Clara) Bill, Phil (his mothers sibs)
Ina and mother - Phillips sister inlaw and her mother.
Also Vera and Harold (no idea who they are)
So how do I find him? Any ideas please?

It's possible he was registered as one name but always called by another. Have you found a baptism? If you are the next living relative you could apply for his Military records which would give date of birth etc but it'd cost you. Look at the local papers to see if there are any more references to him?
Which quarter is Leslie registered in?

Hiya
No baptisms as yet - and no Im not his nearest living relative. There are others.
Leslie was the 4th qr.
Phillip died in the early 1980's and Les (Leslie) after my Gran as I remember him at her funeral in 1987.
'Pauline' was June 1921.
Hmm. Have emailed the other relative to see if she can shed any light on this - but hotmail is playing up something chronic today, so will have to wait for her reply. She is a decendant of Clara (Ethels sister).

Philip A Eaton mother Devereux birth registered Spetember Quarter 1918 West Derby 8b page 595
I imagine if you search the complete GRO Index you'll find the other missing children. That's were I found Philip.

Hi Sonja
This bit of info doesn't help with Leslie.
Albion G Eaton, such an unusual name
Marr apr/jun qtr 1915 Cardiff to Lavinia Saunders
11a p 981
There are two children, one is interesting in 1920 Swindon Wilts.
Albina Eaton (combo of Albion & Lavinia?)
Unless he's a bigamist, this Albion is not "your" Albion.
I suspect he may be related, somewhere!!

Do we know when the Redmond marriage took place?

Unfortunately there are no places on the internet where you can search the GRO Indexes for free, however your local Record Office or possibly main library will have them on microfiche.
Many of us have subscriptions to
www.ancestry.co.uk and will be happy to help do look ups for you, alternatively they can be searched at
http://www.findmypast.com/home.jsp on a Pay per View or Voucher system as well as subscription.
Hope this helps.

Your local library will mpre than likely have a library subscription to Ancestry and you could access all the indexes, censues etc there for free!

I have ancestry - and despite putting in the info you found I still cant get the record up!!
Ah well, I got a date for him and for now thats all that matters. Going to see my dad again at weekend, also going to view John Campbells grave - want to know who else is in there as well.
My dad at this point is still in the Royal - and if they let him out too early (again) they have got me and my 'little' new found sister to contend with!

When you go on to Ancestry you want the bit that says
GO DIRECTLY TO THE COMPLETE BIRTHS MARRRIAGES DEATHS
click on that
then when you get an option click on Births
then put in the name and year click again
then look at the actual images until you have the one you want
Think that's as clear as mud but no doubt someone will do it better for you.

Hello forum users.
Its been a long time since I was on here - too long in fact. But hey life gets in the way sometimes.
I had to re-set my account - is there any way to merge my old account with the new one by the way?
Anyways - update for you.
ALBION GOOGINS EATON - is from Trenton in Maine USA.
Been in contact with some of his family, who are eternally grateful we have given them info on the man.
I sent for the Marriage certificate - which did not list his Birth place, but with the fathers details we matched it up with the family in Maine.
Also his death - he died in 1922 - of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
So now we know.
He was not Welsh nor was he a bigamist (as far as we know..!!)
Regards
Sonja

Hi and glad you have managed to sort matters out.
Your account may well have been blocked if your Society Membership lapsed.
