Hi all, I was looking at a marriage record for James Williames Scheers who married in June 1882. Looking at FreeBMD there are two entries for him, Toxteth Park 8b 500 and Toxteth Park 8b 509. I have him in my tree married to Sarah Ann Johnston, who is shown in 8b 500, but wondering why there would be two different entries with Sarah not being on the other one. Any thoughts?
Thanks, John

Yes - the 509 is clearly a mistranscription. You can view the scans from which it was taken https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/informat ... 744&scan=1

Re: GRO marriage records puzzle
You will notice that most of the others stand out in bold, however the two entries for your James are not. Those in bold have been double checked and entered once again independently, whereas with yours two different transcribers have read the number differently.
Glad retiringtype will be submitting an error but eventually I believe most of these would be picked up and corrected.
