Until our local library springs into full action again I am a little short of resources. Hopefully members may be able to help.
George Naden married firstly Jane Hooper on 26 Dec 1821. They had 3 children, Sarah George and AN Other; his second wife was Maria Pedley whom he married in 1848 after the death of Jane on 6 Dec 1847. Jane died at 225 Green Lane Bordesley and the informant was Mary Hooper of the same address Both were at 225 at the time of the 1841 census. I assumed Jane had gone to live with her sister but I now think Mary was in fact her daughter born 7 Nov 1816. Was she born out of wedlock as she is Hooper or had Jane been married to a Mr Hooper.? If so who was she before being a Hooper?
George is the Grocer who lived and worked at 27 High St Birmingham tho' a number of the family appear to have come from Worcs Warks and Staffs.
Jane's death cert suggests she was 63 and therefore born in 1784 making her 37 when she married 21 year old George. Was this age difference unusual for the time?

Any info at all would be gratefully received.

Jane was a spinster when she married George.

Needing time to get my head around things and I'll have to draw the tree out for myself, but meantime just a question - Bordesley? is this also in Birmingham?

I'm assuming the death certificate didn't give any relationship of the informant, sometimes it does say mother or whatever relative, "present at death".

I have come across even my own Great Grandmother obviously like her toyboy, although she did fib on the census entries and gave his age as a little older and hers a quite a bit younger

The Mary you refer to, born 7 November, 1816, it appears she was Mary Ann Hooper,

Who married James Broadhurst, 1840, therefore wouldn't appear as Mary Hooper on the 1841 census, she was with her husband.

Don't forget the 1841 census ages were rounded down, Mary could be between 25 and 29.

Edit, it appears on this occasion the enumerator hasn't followed the rules.

We will hotfoot it to the library asap and follow up the links. I assume the 55 - 59 date range mean that she must have died between those dates and that suggests she is number 2 on your list. I think a death cert for the good lady must be in the offing.

Below is the probate date, she died between 1847 and 1857, of the 3 definite sightings it doesn't appear she had a middle name? not that I've seen the death cert.

If she died in Warwickshire, Number 2 is most likely, 1855, aged 49.

If Mary died in 1855 why might probate be 1857? I cannot find a likely fit on Freebmd which I use for GRO reference numbers. Maybe when I can access Ancestry we will turn up something -- P

Hold on. Dec 1855 is a possibility. Kings Norton is B'ham. 6c 230 P

Yes, Kings Norton spanned 3 boundaries, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.

The fact that this Mary had no middle name, she looks more favourable. There's nothing further on Anc that I can see to help more.

I wonder why she never changed the will after her mother died.
