Hi, hope you are all keeping well. I am back asking for help.

My 6 x great grand father Richard Peet or Pink, was born c 1693 in Upholland. His first wife Ellen Fyles b 1699 and died 1726, had 3 children. At the moment I am only thinking of the eldest Joseph b 1721 died 1792. He married Ellen Berry. Jane , my 4x great grand mother, was b 1746, Bickerstaffe. The next child b 1750 was called Richard.
There is another Richard of a similar age in the family. Richard Peet or Pink had a second wife, Dorcas Pennington and their last child b 1742 was also called Richard.
The problem is which one married Mary Smith at Ormskirk in 1771.
The register only gives their names and states of Ormskirk Parish. Any ideas how I can sort this out and decided who to apportion the wife and children to.
Thanks Lynne

Hi Lynne,

Witness, James Peet, possible brother?

Did either have a brother James?

That was a good clue. The cert I saw did not mention witnesses, where did you find that. The other Richard b 1742 did not have a brother or a 1/2 brother James Well done bertie one.
The James that I have for Joseph and Ellen was born 15 Jan 1752 , Ormskirk. I had not found the earlier one, who must have died. The later James died 1776 , probably.

I sometimes find that checking out Wills, even if you don't know the first name given, produces results. These should be held at Preston https://user.xmission.com/~nelsonb/lws.htm
(don't bother putting a date in, see what comes up)
