Edward Harrison b 1813, Liverpool

Hi, I am hopeful that you can help me sort another problem in my extended family.
Edward was born in 1813 and baptised in October 1813 at St Pauls Liverpool. (Lancs OPC) His parents were Thomas Harrison and Ellen Prescot. They lived in Old Hall Street. I have not found him on the 1841 census. He is not with his parents in Eaton Street. I have not found a death for him.
Other trees and the hints on Ancestry , reckon that he married Margaret and had several children. In the 1851 to 1881 census they live in Knowsley. It says Edward was born in Knowsley , but that might be because every one else was and dittos were used. I have not been able to find a birth for Edward in Knowsley.
What do you wonderful people think.

Hi Lynne,

It appears the Edward & Margaret, Knowsley, 1851, were Edward Harrison, Margaret Jackson. married, Huyton, 1846

His father, Edward Harrison.

Lynne,

Did you have a Thomas Maddock in the family?

If so, would he be in touching distance to the Harrison's?

Also another possible Orrett link, I'll tag JohnnyO to see this and check if he has any connections.

Funnily enough I just looked at this post minutes after Mary posted it  .

I do not have Margaret marrying Edward Harrison. Saying that, I still have 2 unaccounted for Margaret Orretts in my tree, one born 1807 and one 1812, no spouses found yet. Interestingly, I have Robert Harrison marrying Sarah Orrett in 1794, Elizabeth Orrett marrying Anthony Harrison in 1816. Lots of other Harrisons in my tree but no Edward, but that is not to say I have them all, as I haven't really concentrated on that line. It is a shame that the only images for Thomas marrying Margaret are Banns and Bishop's transcripts. It would have been a lot easier with a copy certificate to get the fathers names.

No sign of a Maddock though.

Lynne, let me know if you want to look at my tree.

Thanks, Mary.

See what comes from the Maddock connection, I think it's Lynne who has the Maddock's on her tree.

Right, please can I get this clear
1) The Edward Harrison, living in Knowsley, is not mine because his father was Edward. My Edward has a father Thomas.
2) My Edward may be the one that married Margaret Orrett in 1837 at St Philips. He would have been 24 at the time, which is over 21.
3) I don't have any Maddock on my tree, sorry.

Thank you very much, for all your help, but I need to find them after to make sure.
Lynne

OK Lynne,

I thought it was you with a Maddock/Maddox connection, someone on here has, never mind we'll go again.

Sorry, Lynne,

Can't move on it, if he married between 1830 & 1860, Liverpool.

Those with fathers, Thomas, none match for occupation or addresses that may help.

The Edward Harrison/Margaret Orrett without mention of father appears to have been a cow keeper, though not compulsory none of his children have been given the name Thomas or Ellen which always gives us hope. :(

Thanks so much every one. We have discounted the one in Knowsley and that was important for me, as more than 1/2 of the trees on Anc have him as this Edward. Perhaps he died or did not marry, or went to sea or one of a thousand things. Thanks again Bertie.

Trying to track down the elusive Harrison/Orrett wedding. Thanks to Mary and Dobbin for the copy document. Shame no parents names. It is intriguing me now :)

If I narrow it down, where was St Philip's church or parish? Since looking the other day, I have found many more Harrisons for my tree. My Orretts were either Toxteth Park, West Derby, Aintree, or loads in Ormskirk. The fact that is says the marriage was in the parish of Liverpool can probably discount the Ormskirk mob from the equation. If I knew where St Philips was/is, it would help to narrow down the branch of the family (possibly!).

The fact that she is a spinster at least means I'm not looking for any other surname!

On a similar vein, a lot of the elder Orretts were baptised at St Mary The Virgin in Prescot. Is that now St Mary Walton on the Hill, or a completely different church? I'm not sure with boundaries moving around over the last 150 years or so.

JohnnyO as far as I remember St Mary's at Walton on the Hill is still called that and no where near Prescot. Walton is just by Kirkdale and quite close to Bootle. Sorry I am no good at posting maps.

Thanks Lynne and Bert. Although I know Prescot is a few miles away from Walton, I was not sure if years ago they were classed in the same area. Thanks for putting me straight and for the links Bert. Back to the Harrison/Orrett puzzle :D
