Evening All,

Can I pick your brains please. Trying to solve a puzzle for a friend of mine. We were having a conversation about family history, as you do. He mentioned that his G.G grandfather was the G.H Fletcher in the local shipping company. It was registered in Liverpool and Spain sold to White Star who later became Cunard, possibly through bankruptcy. One of the pictures his grandfather showed him was of The Charlwood and The Savior Faire.....The latter having a detailed write up of the launching!!!! However We canโ€™t find his full name anywhere, even the latter calls him Mr Fletcher๐Ÿ˜ฑHis grandfather was from Hoylake and a family middle name was HOPE a name which has come down the family. Where can we look for G.H. Fletcher.....so we can start a tree to see if heโ€™s connected to him. Would be grateful of anywhere I can look........this is what when you talk genealogy with friends.....be warned ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Hi Sue,

If your friend has descended from Samuel Francis Fletcher/Nina Hope, married, Birkenhead 1933.

Perhaps porkies.

Samuel Francis Fletcher, 1909.
Samuel Francis Fletcher, 1878.
Thomas William Fletcher, 1844.
Thomas Fletcher, 1815.

Hopefully I have the correct line?

Morning Bertieone

No itโ€™s actually
Robert Fletcher 1824 bury - 3 Dec 1865 Cheshire

The name Hope then starts to appear. He had a lot of information on Wallace Armand Fletcher. I think it was George Fletcher about 1857 Manchester that has maybe misled them. But knowing me I could be wrong. Heโ€™s a fisherman that comes here once a week.....and you know how it is when you get talking. Also his grandfather had told him there was a connection with G H Fletcher ship owner. Tried going side ways on tree but no luck.....none that I could see any way. Thanks for taking an interest Bertieone. Xx

Thank you, Sue,

George Hamilton Fletcher was born 1824, Liverpool,

Parents, John Fletcher/Sarah Jagger, married Liverpool, 1822.

Any connection would likely go back towards John Fletcher.

Your fisherman friend will understand "the one that got away"
