Maria Donaghy.
I thought it was worthwhile taking a punt on this 1857 marriage,
Thomas White
Maria Donohough
Liverpool, 1857, March Qtr, 8b 374,
Further info, Reg office or Registrar Attended.
No children are registered to the above combination immediately after, which may suggest they left the country.
For John White, no registration for variations of the name, Donaghy, Donohough, etc.
I've no idea what Maria's fathers name was, so this may be dismissed, with naming her son John, possibly her son named after her father?
This marriage is very likely to be the registered marriage above, another variation of the name that produced no children.
St Nicholas, RC, Liverpool

can you thank your friend pls. I'm not sure if this is my Maria but definitely worth a further look for me. Her farther was Owen Donaghy. Thanks again.

I know Belle Jac considers Owen Donaghy was the father of Maria Donaghy, I don't know if this is nailed on or there is an element of doubt.
The initial enquiry was for a White/Donaghy marriage, further to the marriage I posted, granted different father.
Below a baptism for Peter John White, parents, Thomas White, Maria (variation of Donaghy?) Godparents, Terrence Riley, Anna Nolan.

There isn't a registered death for Peter John before Maria travelled to Oz in 1860 and no sign for him or the parents, 1861 census.

Thank you Bert so much for finding this, I have spent the weekend trying to figure this out as I believe this is my Maria and her son's Baptism also. here is what I have found: that the Joannis in Irish Gaelic is Eoghan or Eóin, which is Owen. So I do think you have found my missing Maria marriage. Somewhere along the line someone recorded her husband as John when in fact it appears it's Thomas. Maria's mothers maiden name was Riley so Terence Riley must be related. Maria is recorded as a Matron when she immigrants and the ship leaves Liverpool on December 10th 1859. Her son is recorded as age 1. With no mention of any husband, so now I will try to find any death record of him in Liverpool. Again much appreciation for your efforts.

Hi Belle and welcome to the forum,
Excellent and very clever, something I never thought of "Irish Gaelic" well done.
There's 3 registered deaths between 1857/1860 in a possible age group,
Thomas White,
Liverpool, 1858, age 49, Sept Qtr, 8b 71, Buried, Sept 1, Walton Park, Address, 20 Cherry Lane.
Liverpool, 1860, age 49, March Qtr, 8b 88, Edit, 65 Fontenoy st, Widow, Ann White and family.
West Derby, 1858, age 38, March Qtr, 8b 335, Edit, Buried, Walton on the hill, March 9, same day as Jane White, age 36. recorded next to each other.
No doubt you have checked the possibility he went out to Oz in advance of the family?

As we don't know anything of Thomas White's age, occupation or place of birth, I wonder, Reily connection?

Thank you for the welcome. I think I'm going to give no 1 a go I think first. I think I'll try him.
I am going to go back and retry finding now thomas in "Oz" here too because I have been searching for a John. Thanks again

Belle Jac,
The other question you asked elsewhere,
1851 map of Blackfield Terrace, the long dark shaded building opposite will be the rope works, that's how they were, buildings of good length.
The 1861 census has G B Richardson, Great Mersey St, Rope Manufacturer, employer of ?Men and ?Boys, if not the owner in 1851, very likely the owner of that particular rope works later.

That's magnificent, thank you thank you!!Michael in the 1851 census states he employed 2 men and 10 boys. Once he comes to Australia he builds the longest rope walk in the Southern Hemisphere, the factory has long since closed and been demolished but the rope walk is heritage protected. I did a bit of looking at Terence Riley as sometimes you need to go sideward to go back. I'll do some more tonight after work.

Hi Belle Jac
I was googling and came across your posts on the Liverpool FHS forum, as I was also looking for Maria Donaghy and Thomas White. My great great grandmother was Maria Donaghy (white) . My mother was a White who lived with her parents as a girl in Waratah st geelong west. Next to Donaghy rope works. All my forbears worked there . My uncle Allen was tragically killed as a child in the rope walk.
I assume you live in Australia and I was wondering what part of the White family you are in?
I’m just starting on researching the white family and have found it fascinating. I assume you have been doing it for a while and so may be able to share information.
Regards IanJ , Melbourne.
