Ford Cemetry

Post by kearns62+ »

Good Afternoon Group, hope all of you are enjoying the fab weather. Just a quick question ... 4 of my relatives are buried in Ford Cemetery on Gorsy Lane, when I was up in Liverpool in March this year I went a long to Ford and found my Grandfather after 30 mins walking in the wrong direction even with the map I got it wrong lol ... I have found out that not only is my grandmother buried there but also my Gt Grandmother & Gt Grandfather so looked up there burials and they seems to not have any alphabetical letters before their plot number not like my Grandfathers. Does this mean that they are buried in the public grave? any assistance would be helpful and many thanks in advance ... Nigel

These are the public sections,

A. AD. B. BZ. SJ. SV. X.

Have you back tracked from your relatives record through previous burials until you find a letter?

Hi, if you give me the grave number for your grandfather, I will check up at Crosby Library tomorrow and let you know if there is anyone else in the grave.

If you also give me the other names and date of death or burial I can cross reference those as well.

When viewing the pages for the burial, when you find the grave number look amongst others on the page, or one before or after, if you note that there are other instances of the same grave number it will give you an indication that it's a general grave rather than a private one.

James Kearns 11/07/1917 Plot 1554 for example has a couple of other entries on the next page.

Good Evening Mary, thanks for this info as RC Burials are a mine field to me ,also many thanks for your help regarding this.

Good Evening JohnnyO, you have made a Bristolian very happy. I am back up in Liverpool at the end of September for a long weekend and meeting up with all my cousins. Looks as if we will be going back to Ford Cemetery that weekend to have another look around.

Once again I would like to thank you all for your help in this.

Kind regards Nigel
