My GGF Isaac Gandy of Widnes divorced my GGM and remarried in Canada. GGF & GGM had one child, my grandfather.
In his new marriage Isaac Gandy had eight children in Canada. One of his sons had in turn eight children.

Is there any accepted name for my GGF's second wife?
Is there a name of the relation between myself and my GGF's eight children?
And is there a name for the relation between myself and GGF's grandchildren?

We usually say that we are "cousins", but this is somewhat misleading. Complicated I know, but it would be interesting to hear if anyone could help unravel these family relations.

Very useful and fascinating Bertieone. Many thanks.I now know that:

My GF is a half sibling with GGF''s new children, my father is half first cousin with GGF´s grandchildren and I am it appears half second cousin with GGF´s ggchildren.

I will write and let them know!

As to GGF´s second wife - I will carry on calling her just that.

I know the relationships don't work out this way, but the above just brought to mind an old poem I'd heard of ages ago, so I know it will bring a smile to your face.

I Am My Own Grandpa

Many, many years ago
when I was twenty-three,
I got married to a widow
who was as pretty as could be.

This widow had a grown-up daughter
who had hair of red.
My father fell in love with her,
and soon the two were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law
and change my very life.
My daughter was my mother,
for she was my father's wife.

To complicate the matters worse,
although it brought me joy,
I soon became the father
of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became
a brother-in-law to dad.
And so became by uncle,

For if he was my uncle,

To the widow's grown up daughter who,
of course, was my step-mother

Father's wife then had a son,
who kept them on the run.
And he became my grandson,
for he was my daughter's son.

My wife is now my mother's mother
and it makes me blue,
Because, although she is my wife,
she's my grandma too.

If my wife is my grandmother,
then I am her grandchild
And every time I think of it,
it simply drives me wild.

For now I have become
the strangest case you ever saw,
As the husband of my grandmother,
I am my own grandpa!

Bertie one helped me to find my relation to my Canadian "cousins". We are half second cousins in future.
