Photo wanted: Rock Mount, Aigburth

For a long time I have been trying to find a photo of a house which stood in St Anne's Road, Aigburth, numbered 9, and named as Rock Mount when in private hands. Some time after 1922 it was used as a preliminary training school for Sefton General Hospital, and as a nurses' home. By 1978 it had closed and was offered for sale. It was demolished and the site stood empty for some years, before new housing filled the space.

Is there by any chance a forum member with knowledge of the area and access to any sort of illustration?

Many thanks,
Daggers

PS the house was also known as Rockmount - one word.

A few responses so far

Have seen pictures of Rock Mount as we lived in this road years ago, but cannot remember where, so the is hope. It will be someone in their mid 80s that will for sure to have some, as I know some young police men went out with the young nurse's there.

I’ll ask my ex-colleague who lived there for a while when a student radiographer. I visited them there, but have never seen a photo of it.

This was who lived there 100 years ago... http://wyndhammarsh.co.uk/genealogy/get ... NCzz_2Ek7s

Daglish has a facinating history, maybe if you research the name etc a bit more you may come across a photo of the house. An employee of the family company, went on to become a Prime Minister of New Zealand. https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/George_He ... S5JIv7eR08

I have posted thanks for the above comments, but also have said that you have a connection with the Daglish family and that your research has been quite exhaustive without discovering a photograph - I suspect you already have seen these websites.

Thanks for keeping those fingers busy, as well as xxxed. As you say, I have come across those references, but the map is a gem, being more detailed than others I’ve found.

The map was provided by a man called Dave Bridson, very popular guy around the Liverpool Groups and often has photographs, I believe he may have been a Society member, if not now then in the past.
