Can anyone help me in finding this family please.
Edward was bn 1821 Liverpool occupation as a printer when he married Elizabeth Hallowell bn 1821 Liverpool.

They married in St. Brides Liverpool 28 Feb 1847.

They had 2 daughters
Alice bn 1849 Upper Stanhope St, Toxteth Pk.
Margaret bn 1851 Pitt St, Liverpool.

I last have sight of them in the 1851 Census at 109 Pitt St, Liverpool.
Edward,s occupation is now a general porter.

In 1850 Edward was a business partner with Shadrach Kiernan as Letter Press Printers, it was dissolved by mutual consent.

I have hit a brick wall trying to locate this family any help would be most welcome and appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately there is no sight of him in the 1853 Gores directory. I'll keep looking in a couple of later directories.

I don't think the Edward Taylor, labourer, living in Pitt St with daughters Alice and Margaret is Edward Lloyd Taylor.

There is an Edward L Taylor occ Printers Master living in Sun Street with wife Elizabeth and no children who seems more likely. This Edward L Taylor was born in London which ties in with the following birth record on FamilySearch

Name: Edward Leoyd Taylor Residence Place: Gender: Male Christening Date: 29 Jun 1823 Christening Date (Original): 29 JUN 1823 Christening Place: CITY ROAD CHAPEL WESLEYAN,FINSBURY,LONDON,ENGLAND Birthplace: Birth Date: 02 Jul 1821 Name Note: Death Date: Father's Name: Wm. Hi Alison,
What have you done to me lol.
I sourced this before a lot more data came to light in later years.
That may have thrown the cat amongst the pigeons if it proves right.
For some reason I have not come across this one.
This is more than likely the same 1847 marriage at St Bride,s Church.
Hopefully there is an 1861 census etc
I was thinking he may have changed occupation after his business partnership dissolved.
Food for thought
Many thanks for your help in this search

Ok,

you should have the 1841 census family in 1851, Hamilton Street Birkenhead? HO107 P2175 F198 P37

https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/s ... h=16687249

Can you give us a start point, how you got to the Edward Lloyd marriage?

Hi Bert,
Yes I have the 1851 census for his father and mother.
As regards how I latched onto Elizabeth Hallowell,s marriage it was a long time ago.
I think I either or both located from the St Bride register and the family search site.
Her father had been a fruiterer & coachman during his children,s births.
In the 1841 census he was listed as coachman.
In the 1851 census listed as a master carter.
On his death Sep 1851 listed as a labourer.
Hope this does not muddy the waters any further.
Thanks

I think Alison's Sun Street chap, 1851 is correct and belongs to the 1841 and 1851 William Taylor family.

It would appear shortly after their 1818 marriage, William Taylor/Ellen Guy lived down south, Middlesex area.

2 further children from the 1851 Birkenhead census, Eliza and Ellen with the Middlesex connection, parents William Taylor/Ellen Guy.

I have not located Edward and Elizabeth in 1861 Census as yet maybe they have died.

Many eyes including my own would have searched for them in 1861, unsuccessfully by the looks of things.

I also looked at deaths for Edward, the number of deaths in England and Wales for Edward Taylor amount to over 300 between 1851 and 1861.

Narrowing the search to Liverpool/West Derby for those years, there are 6 for Edward Taylor, none for Edward Lloyd Taylor.

Of the 6, none are the correct age, the closest being about 6/7 years out.

If you're not aware of this site, you can check here,https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/cert ... efault.asp

You will need to register and sign in.

I did notice, the 1851 census address was 28 Sun Street, looking at the 1860 Liverpool Directory for Sun Street, at number 30, Elizabeth Lloyd.

Coincidence perhaps, in the event they started using Edward's middle name as a surname I looked for Edward Lloyd death between 1851/61

Edward Lloyd, Dec Qtr, 1855, aged 33. Birth 1822.

Knowing more about that death may help?

Many thanks Bert,
I don't think I would have found these bits you have found, if it wasn't for your diligence
Don't mind me asking but do you have directories or are they on line.
Wonder why she used the Lloyd name as her surname.
What sites do you glean this info from, you do a very good job of it.
I wonder how long Elizabeth carried on for ?
Many thanks again your a big help to me.
