I have a problem for the sleuths, if you have time at this time of year.
Ellen Hughes b 1827 married John Basnett in 1844 at St Nicks. They had 5 children, Sarah Ann b 1846 and as far as I can tell she died the same year; Samuel b 1847 d 1902 (married Dorothy Foster in 1872); William b 1849.; George 1852; John 1857. When John (blacksmith) died in c 1858, she married his brother Robert Basnett b 1834. They had 3 children , that I know of, Robert b 1860; Mary Ellen 1863; and Sarah Jane 1865. (All births Liverpool of West Derby They also lived in Gascoyne Street for a while)
The problem I have is 1871 census. I have 2 choices .
Ellen at 15 Albion Parade?
Ellen Basnett 44 Widow
William Basnett 21
Sarah J Basnett 19 wrong age if b 1865
James Basnett 17 I don't have a James. Could this be George b 1852.
John Basnett 14
George Basnett 45 lodger Another brother I think . He is a widower .
George Basnett 9 above's children
William Basnett 7 " "

Then there is Robert Basnett at Court 1c Dalton Street.
Rob. Basnett 44 (Wrong age, but as Ellen was a lot older he did change it a lot.)
Rob. Basnett 20 son
Mary E. Basnett 18 son
Sarah Basnett 16 daughter
Philip Basnett 1 son

Sarah appear to appear in both. And who is Philip aged 1 ??
Any ideas which is correct would bw gratefully received. (I have a choice of deaths for Ellen 1872 or c 1868)

Possible
Philip Edward was the son of Mary E Basnett, can be traced later as Philip Edward Milner.

Hi Gray. It is the same family. Sorry I got my years mixed up with Philip Sat nights watching TV at the same time .
Bertie, thanks for finding my confusion with the 2 censuses. I had found the mmn Joynson when looking at births and then forgot that it might be a different family.
Thanks also for finding Philips parentage, I didn't think it could be Roberts child.

Next installment on Philip b 1880.
He was baptised on 27 June 1880 at All Souls Vauxhall. He was baptised as Philip Edward Milner with father given as Edward Milner and mother as Mary Ellen Milner.
When Mary Ellen married 3 years later, (See Bertie's post) her husband was Albert Milner !! I am now even more confused.
Philip is on 1891 census with Mary E and Albert at 3, Corlett St and has dropped the "Philip"
