T.A. KENTRY, R.C. chaplain, WW1

In a Territorial newsletter dated Christmas 1915 a list of chaplains attached to 3rd West Lancashire Brigade, Royal Artillery (from Liverpool) includes:
Rev. T.A. Kentry (R.C.) attached, at the front.
The other chaplains listed are Church of England and have been traced, all having local links. It seems likely that Father Kentry was also from the Liverpool area, but I have not been able to find anything about him.
Can anyone help, please?

I think there's a typo and the surname should read Keniry. Rev Father Thomas Augustine Keniry, born London 1883, died in Thanet, Kent in 1961

Excellent, thanks very much RT. A typo would not be surprising, but the detail of his attachment to 1/3 West Lancs Artillery is a clincher.

Rounding off on this one, Fr Keniry seems to have had no local links, apart from his wartime attachment to a West Lancs Territorial unit.

Dear "retiringype" and "daggers"

Thank you for the information on Thomas A Keniry. I am researching him. I have a photo of his grave in Ramsgate, St Augustine's. He was parish priest in Minster-in -Thanet from 1939 till his death in 1961. I was wondering where you got his place (London) and date of birth (1883). If you have more info on him and his being chaplain with the 3rd West Lancashire Brigade, Royal Artillery (from Liverpool), please contact me.

Kind regards

Tom Bekers

As the original poster on this topic I came across the name as 'Kentry' in an informal newsletter published in Liverpool about the activities of a Territorial Artillery unit. It started pre-1914 with information about the annual training camps but continued in wartime. Annual issues gave details of awards, postings and promotions (mainly officers), with pages of jokes, and a few poor-quality photos.
At the time I had in mind writing a history of the unit but have had to put that to one side. The publication was titled 'Kamp Knews', and a copy of a single issue is in the British Library. I obtained photo-copies of the other issues from a contact in the USA, but I regret I did not pursue the career of Fr Keniry any further, once I discovered that he had no other local, Liverpool links.
