My grandfather worked for the Liverpool Echo
possibly from the 1920s definitely in the 1930s
Until he retired, as a Printer Assistant but I'm not sure
Exactly what that was. His name was Henry Jones.
Is there any books/websites or even photos of The Daily Post / echo where I could find out anything more.
I'd assume it was a big company..where was the building before the current big building where it is now.?

Isn't that strange, I had a cousin who worked there when it was in Victoria Street and I remember it as being one of the red brick buildings on the left, going towards the tunnel, I can't remember which of them, but apparently they are the odd numbers in the street, not even. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.40823 ... 312!8i6656

The 1911 directory has the Echo, Post and Mercury occupying 46-50 Victoria Street, between Crosshall St and Preston St, further along at 70 is Imperial Buildings, still there opposite on the corner from the red bricked buildings towards tunnel in Mary's Google maps link.

Memories-Memories  :D

I remember working in the old Echo Building, fitting number plates to all the old type setter machines( so that all the workers could easily identify their own machines when they were taken to the New Building).

The building was Not past being used, but this being Liverpool, it was shortly demolished after the Echo decamped.

Must be why my memory was back to front, I thought it was one of the buildings still there.

I think it's printed in Oldham but there's still staff working in Liverpool.
